I have two questions I guess, in order of increasing complexity.

 

1. How do I 'separate' meshes?

e.g. with a modified High Ordinator helmet (I removed the Mohawk already) what do I do if I want to use different texture files for the mask part than the cowl (back) part? Is Blender necessary to do it, or does Not smoke suffice?

 

2. I separated Almalexia's warrior helmet from the rest of her body. How do I move the pivot/anchor (not sure how it's called) the object position in relation to/ rotates around? I want it to be inside the head in the center of it. (by default it's between her feet where her full body would stand).
