Crusader93
i have an idea! in oblivion there could be an arena that a player fight in and when you talk to a specifik npc he will ask if you want to chalenge others over the internet it could work! it just needs some time and scripting and such (man i should mail Todd about this!) Abramul
Punctuation is GOOD. Punctuation is your FRIEND. There will likely be some dueling in OB, however, IT HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED by way of an interview that OB will not be multiplayer. Adding the protocols and whatnot would be a silly waste of the DEVs time...but I'm sure one modding group or another will be happy to do it. It would be nice to be able to trade custom-enchanted items, though. Punctuation...it's the law!
Luthiel_Dragonsoul
ya, you are right it will probably be like the existing morrowind multiplayer mod, where it maps the other persons position and heaght and conveys this to your computer, or it could be more advanced and have a certain area in the oblivion world communal to all online players. luthiel

Peregrine
Don't get too excited. Oblivion is going to have none of the network coding you'd need to have multiplayer. You'll have to hack that in yourself, using potentially illegal methods. And even then, the quality of what you can do is probably going to be extremely limited. Remember, the "multiplayer" Morrowind mod consisted of putting an AI controlled NPC where the sent file told you your friend was. There was no trading, no chat option, no PVP combat, no way to do coop quests, and probably extreme lag.
CrazyGilbert
if it isnt implamented in Oblivion (I mean the arena dueling thing) which it will because one of the guilds is called the arena guild somebody could easily do this in the OBCS (oblivion construction set) -CG
Peregrine
No they couldn't. Oblivion's engine does not in any way support multiplayer. You'd have to hack the engine files and add the network code. That's a lot more than just a minor construction set addition.
Luthiel_Dragonsoul
ok peregrine, i actually agree with you it will not, work but just to clear something up, in the morrowind multiplayer mod, there was a barter box mod that was implemented to enable trade between players luthiel
Peregrine
Fine, that's just one of many features they needed to improve. The mod as a whole was absolutely useless for anything but stubbornly proving that multiplayer of some form could technically be done with Morrowind.
