More of an MO2 quesstion(unexpected after GECK save)

I was working on an ESM in the GECK and after saving it, I found it to have moved into the overwrites folder in MO2. The overwrites is something I've always wondered about, as it seems to have little consequence in-game whether the plugin is there or not.

Just checking for advice, should I move my ESM out of the overwrites, and if so, is it as simple as just moving the plugin back into its mods folder via Explorer?

Mods in Overwrite folder (in MO2 system) generally appear with highest priority, aka they overwrite EVERYTHING in their specification. If it affect a varmin rifle (for example), no matter how many mods affecting this you install, the mod in Overwrite folder is the one decide.

So Overwrite folder should be a temporary location only. You should pull the files out and put them where you find approriate. You only leave files in that folder if you know EXACTLY what it affect and why you need it there to keep it happening.
