FO3 crashing on start up

I've looked around and can't find any sticky for the usual whine of 'please look at my load order!' I've gone over the mods list one by one and it seems to be MMM-FEV and FWE causing crashes as the startup reaches the loadscreens, it CTDs before I get a mouse pointer.

 

I've read the helpful tute, you'll notice it's almost entirely mods they recommend, but the load order there causes the same thing. This load order is from FOMS but still no bananas.

 

I'm using the latest FOMM, FOSE and FOMS

Crash at start means something is missing it's master, or it's loading before one of its masters, fomm can tell you what masters does a mod have. More than likely, it's because you're loading FWE compatibility plugins and you don't have FWE itself.

 

Apart from that, your load order sucks horribly and goes against more than half of the readmes of the files you're loading.

It still is unhappy.

I'm using the first patch.

 

Is this because I have conflicting patches happening?

I'll just read through the readmes again, but I keep wondering if they're current. Probably a stupid worry.

I've deactivated FWE and the game works well now from a new start, but crashes on a save (which was in The Pitt, but it was crashing there anyway)

 

I'll have to try and see what is wrong with FWE, but I can't see why it would cause crashes.

Looking at it in FOMM and in the Data folder gets you two different answers.

 

In FOMM the file 'FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File' is an .esm, but in the Data folder it comes up as an .esp. Strange.

 

I'm downloading v5, the old format.

 

Thanks for all the help, this has had me pulling hair out.
