How do I get started?

I have some silly questions because I have never actually modded a game myself in my life. I used to have a modded single-player version of Diablo II (stackable potions, larger inventory, etc) but that was done by someone else for me, and ever since my computer got broke last November I've been trying to figure out how to mod something myself - so far, without success.

I am trying to mod Diablo II: Resurrected with https://www.nexusmods.com/diablo2resurrected/mods/2

To give an idea of just how lost I am, I don't even know where to find the "download" link for the mod itself.

What programs do I need? How do I do this?

I really want the mods; the game just isn't the same without it, but I am so at sea!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I was shocked for a moment because I couldn't find the download link either. It turns out, this mod you want was discontinued by the author as of February 20, 2022. The file is no longer downloadable from Nexus Mods. zcul, a member of staff here, supposedly hid the mod from view because it lacked files.

However, in the mod's description page, you see those dropdown menus - permissions & credits, etc.? The second one there says "Mirrors" and offers an alternative way of downloading the mod. This leads you to a site called moddb, which has Better SP on it - I've never used it, personally, but the file seems to be there. You can navigate the mod's tabs using the categorical paths near the top of the mod page, being summary, articles, reviews, etc. Summary has step-by-step instructions on getting the mod to work, and files has a download link for the mod there, I think.

Now, I'm not fully confident this mod is operational on all versions, since it was announced to have been discontinued. You can try it on your game. Best case scenario, it works, and worst case scenario, we can troubleshoot the install process together and maybe look into changing your game version.
