AlexRD
HelloI know it is not that hard to make setups, but modders seem to lack of time to make a setup.Well, i'm volunteering to make Setups for Mods. Its easy: You ask me to make a setup and give me the Mod FileI will make the Setup and PM You with the file when its done. A Read Me file is required, and i can also add an Icon to your setup (Optional) Thank you,Alex. To see how it is going to look out, i made a setup for the mod Better Companions and Caravanshttp://rapidshare.com/files/243121427/Test.exe.htmlScan it in VirusTotal.com if you want, no viruses. BadPenney
Please pardon my noob question, but I don't understand what you mean by setup. What is it exactly that you are offering to do?
AlexRD
Not so noob, i didn't explain it very correctly.Like, an Installer, with a Uninstall icon included. I'm offering to create an installer to your application so that is easier for people to install your mod. ( For newbies ).In the setup, the Read Me file is included, an icon of your choice (If you want to), etc. Take this image as an Example:http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planetcnc.gamespy.com/features/reviews/2006-03-21-TFD/WindowsInstaller.jpgOBS: I'm not going to be using Installshield since its license costs like 500 U$D. AlexRD
:P No virus included.Anyway, you can check every file i make before i post it.There is a online service called VirusTotal.com you can check if there is virus there.I'm really trying to help, not to screw everyone. Thanks,Alex.
TGBlank
I'd prefer to go with fomod-ready archives, it makes installing/uninstalling much simpler (it backups files to overwrite and remembers from which fomod was each file, it also supports install scripts, which, with enough effort, can be used to move a mod to it's right place in the load order, and activate/deactivate modules, or install them selectively), and anybody not using FOMM already should go get it anyways.+ The lesser risk of viruses, i'd rather not install a mod from j_random_guy with 1.5 posts on the site if it's exe-only. Have you thought about doing those instead?
Lucidx
If it was even necessary to make a setup wouldnt someone just use a program like 'Install Creator Pro'

AlexRD
I don't know how to make FOMOD ready-archives,but if you would teach me how to do it, then fine, i would do it. Edit: I think i learned how, is it like to go into Package manager and save as a FOMOD?Edit2: But still, i will still offer the Setup services too for those who want it. Thanks,Alex. TGBlank
Well, yes, and no. You can make fomods, and you can make fomod-ready archives. A fomod-ready archive is a 7z with an internal file structure recognizable by fomm, the simplest possible one is just a file made to be extracted directly into the data folder, internally, however, certain folders and files are treated differently, so you can run install scripts, show menus asking the user things, show images, have an icon, have a description and even a designated readme. The best way to learn how to make them is to check out a mod that has been made as a fomod-ready archive, breeze's male body replacer haves one of the most complex installers that uses many features, my very own blackwolf backpack addon mod is in a fomod-ready archive, complete with icon, description, and yes, install script (tho i do not use all of the possible niceties). DarnUI also comes as a fomod-ready (or a fomod? can't recall), and includes things in it's script like ini-editing. A well-made fomod ready archive can be unpacked directly to the data folder, or opened through fomm's package manager and activated, in which case the scripts will run. It's really the best way to distribute a mod.
