larrycurlymoe
I am such a newb, I am not sure how or what to do to fix these errors. All indications were to run FO3Edit to create a merged patch. When I did, I get the following errors. Should I be concerned and get them fixed? If so, any insights? TGBlank
Unless you get a "cannot build merged patch" or the program crashing, don't bother with those.
larrycurlymoe
Oh well, it looks like there is a problem. There is an African American caravan guy with the red exclamation point. I guess I am going to have to try to correct it.
mechine
Is African American caravan guy, too formal? I mean you wouldn't say American American or North American which could mean everybody in the North America or USA. We don't say Black American or White American. It is kind of cool if you think about it, America is wild mixture of Black, red, tan, white, don't forget Mexicans woo hoo!, an then that silver guy on oprahYeah he's definatly not white anymore... "He is a Korean American" Nah that doesn' work either "He's Han" You remember Han right, huge Korean guy real laid back an chill. I reckon it might be Black or maybe AfroAmericanus Caravan Wasteland guy I'm not really saying they are Black by default, American by default though for sure I mean personally my family is from Germany, but I wouldn't say I was German American.I'd probably say I'm just plain white trash, we used to be middle class though which was nice.Hell I'm not even really white, except on my arse a bit, I'd say I was pale Ha ha like the indians say PALEFACE, that's great now I'm a Paleface American I don't think any of us can ever win. Alundaio
...Why are you trying to create a merged patch with those FOOK plugins? Are you trying to use FO3edit's masterupdate feature? If so you are completely doing it wrong. I know their explaination on how to get plugins to work on 1.5 isn't written well enough for people who are new to mods. larrycurlymoe
The readme for WMK said to make a "merged patch" using FO3Edit. That is the only reason. I thought it may be a reason for the missing texture/meshes problem I had. I did a complete reinstall, I went to the spot where the error occurred, verified the inventory of the Caravan Guard. I started to reinstall pieces: Base, OA, BS, TP, 1.4 patch, UOPatch, DUI. Then, I checked after installing each of FOOK, FWE, MMM. The meshes were all still fine. When i installed WMK, the red exclamations came back.
Alundaio
Are you using the Compatibility patches for FOOK, WMK, FWE and MMM? I use all Four of them too and I've never had that problem. You can find a file containing all the necessary patches on the FOOK website. I do not think a merged patch is neccessary. It should work perfectly fine for you, as long as you have the compatibility patches. Note the specific order I have them. I hope you get it to work. I personally feel that combo of mods is perfect for what I like about the Fallout Universe. I use alot of other mods with them too, but I deleted them from the list for simplicity. larrycurlymoe
Thank you for the info. Since I did a reinstall, I cannot go back to verify. After reading some things on the FFOK forums, there was a suggestion to wait 4 days after installing the mod so it takes affect on the NPCs. This was not specifically for WMK, but it may have been the issue. I will install WMK on my new install and see how things go without a merged patch. TGBlank
If the caravan guy haves a !, and happens with wmk, it means he's holding a wmk gun and it can't find the mesh, which means you did not installed WMK right.Merged Patch should be doing the following: merging of inventories, leveled lists, race records, solving of a very specific set of conflicts (cancels overrides by vanilla data inside the mods' records). What that means is that it will not magically pop up a mesh record out of nowhere, and the data it contains comes exclusively from your installed mods. @mechine Apart from wholelly missing the point that from all caravaners, there is only one of color; did you ever stopped to think that all the America = USA speech might be found overly prepotentious and rather insulting by Latin Americans and Canadians?. Hmmm....I am not sure how this turned out to be racial thing, but it was not meant to be. As for the mesh, copy folders to Explore trees is a Basic OS skill. I know I did not have that problem. I did verify that the gun the caravaner was carrying was a shotgun. I looked in FO3Edit to try to figure out which NIF was missing. I am no expert, but from the FormID, it indicated that in \Data\Meshes\Weapon\2hndrifle (this is a guess of the structure because I am at work and not home) there should be a combatrifle.NIF file. It is not there. In the end, it makes no difference at this point. I do appreciate your help in trying to help me debug the issue. It definitely pointed to me what was causing the red exclamation. Because I did not have the time or patience to investigate further, I chose to wipe and reinstall. I will have more time this week and weekend to enjoy the game more and try to debug issues I have. I probably should not have even tried to play this past weekend, but I did.
