sound problems

Ok, so I have noticed a very annoying bug in my game. I have a problem with the sound, but not in the usual way. I can hear everything fine -- unless I look at it.

I can hear the radio, but if I look at it, it will go silent. Same with Dogmeat, jukeboxes, friendly non-interactive NPCs (Megaton settler ect.), mines (not the explosion, the beeping sound) and cut scenes. I have had this problem since I installed the game, so it isn't a mod issue, and I have a very reliable machine, so I don't think it's a hardware issue (I have a Sound Blaster Audigy).

Help pl0x.

Think your center box is not active.

Err... do you have one?

If yes, then you should have a look into your sound card settings.

Sometimes you have to switch the Center/Subwoofer channel (they are both mono and they chare a stereo output.)

If not, then you should adjust your sound card settings to something else than 5.1 or whatever.

But the possibilities are quiet much.

I use an externel decoder via coaxial output for example.

Sometimes the sound turns out because of the cable/plug

No idea!

That's so werid ZOMG!

I have the audigy, it's like A2Sz or something.

Gosh it's like 4 years old now, lol the onboard audio I have is probably better

I still use the ole Sound blaster though. Just cause it's PCI

It's 7.1, and almost everytime I have set it up an hooked it up

I've had to mess with windows sound property settings

as well as the software with the card an the tons of wires

Pretty much I'll set everything then play a sound

then turn the volume for all the speakers down one by one

then go back turn each of them on one at a time to make sure

they get sound, they do have sound test stuff in the soundblaster software though

to test channels

Shoot it could even be a problem with the speakers or a bad wire.

I think you finally figured out how to make things in fallout shut up though

which isn't such a bad thing huh? :D Just kidding...

Thanks guys!

I went to my device manager and -- guess what? I have an unrecognised audio device! It says I need a driver for this device... trouble is, I don't know what device it is. It doesn't really give me alot of direction... do any of you know where I should go from here?

I am having a very wierd issue with my original radio stations (i.e. GNR and Enclave). The voices are fine, but the music has this "wavy" or "pulsating" sound to it if that makes any sense. The really wierd thing is that repeadedly pressing the pause button (esc/start) makes it go away for a little while, but it inevitably returns. Oh, and I have already gone through the GNR quest so its not that. I have vista 32bit and all of my sound drivers are updated, does anyone know how to fix this? All the other sound in my game is perfect, including the non-radio music and radio voices.
