Deleting Ground

Recommended Posts

If I wanted to build an in-ground pool, what are the steps I would have to follow to delete the ground in the area I want the pool ? I have seen mods which have in-ground pools in them so I know it can be done. I just can't figure out how !

In case you don't know, you can press H key whilein the Creation Kit to open the landscaping editor. You may be able to achieve your goal with landscape editing. It takes a bit of practice though. Good Creation Kit AND landscape editing and you'll find some video tutorials out there. Good luck.

I do use the landscaping editor in the Creation Kit, mostly I use it to flatten ground in settlements. I am not knowledgeable enough to use it to remove ground.

You cant actually remove the ground... All you can do is reshape it,sink, raise etc...

BUT...

After you have edited the ground\terrain... you also have to edit the navmesh (the pathing that the NPC uses to know where to go and not to go etc..)

Yeah, I tried out sinking the ground and was able to go quite deep. I'm not too worried about Navesh as a pool will be built in the hole. The floor tiles and pool tiles are all NavMeshed as needed so I don't think this will cause a problem.

careful when "digging" ...

There is another layer which is the LOD.... that you cant see unless you enable it...in the CK... If you go too deep and cross the LOD it will clip into your hole when you go in game.
