SonAnima
So I been watching videos and reading on nexus on creating new ammo but there are two questions that are not answered. I'm making a weapon mod that uses 3 different calibers and need to know if 1: Do I create the ammo conversion mods for the weapon in creation kit first then open up FO4Edit to create the new ammo types for my weapon mod to use? 2: Why do I not see anybody creating ammo in the Creation Kit instead since everything is already there? There are videos of many people creating weapon mods to use at the workbench for their weapons and you have to create the weapon itself in the Creation Kit anyway. I'm guessing it has something to do with how much of a buggy mess Fallout 4 is? I'm still new to modding so there are many things that I still don't understand. So since my weapon mod uses 3 different calibers will I have to create 3 different master esp. for the weapon ammo? I want to make a weapon pack and need to understand all of this so all my ammo calibers play well with other weapons. I'm referring to this guide posted years ago: TUTORIAL - Adding a new ammunition type at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)
Fantafaust
Are you doing this for your own practice, or do the ammo types you want to use not already exist on the nexus? In terms of ammo conversion, if the same base weapon is involved you can just use new receivers to change the ammo used via the workbench.
SonAnima
Im doing this for my own practice as the ammo types I want to use dont exist on the nexus. The ammo types the weapon uses are not vanilla ammunitions. So is it safe to create the new ammo types in Creation Kit? Once the ammo is created in Creation Kit can I make other gun mods that I create use the same ammo type without creating the same ammo again? Anyways, yes, you just make the ammo and the projectile the ammo uses in the Creation Kit. You can look in the Object Modifications section of the creation kit to look at other weapon's receivers to see how they change ammo type.If you want totally separate mods to use the same ammo, you would either have to require the mod that you first make your ammo in(good option), or you would have to remake it every time for each new mod(bad option). SonAnima
Thanks for helping me out. I have a better understanding of how to go about the ammo now. Thank you for mentioning Caliber Complex as it uses most of the ammunitions for the weapon pack that I want to make but I can't seem to find Caliber Complex on Bethesda.Net for Xbox which is a problem as I want my mod to be Xbox Friendly and Munitions doesnt have most of the calibers that I want to use.
