Ynguatep
Hi there, I'd be happy about some technical help with this problem: When I exit a city and ride / run around for about half a minute, the game starts to slow down terribly. Fluent gameplay ends up with 20-40 fps for about two minutes, then goes further down and often results in ctd. There seems to be no way to avoid it. Settings are fairly low for my requirements and experience with a heavily modded Oblivin. And I already use LowPoly Grass. Hardware and drivers are not the problem. I am currently doing some research concerning mods (that's why I dug up Oblivion again after years), and played through huge parts of Elsweyr Anequina, Ivellon, AFK Weye, Kvatch Aftermath, Lost Spires and two or three smaller ones with an old vanilla savegame of a high-level character. Cobl, OBSE, UL and BC are also active. Gameplay modifications are only Real Sleep Extended, Real Hunger, FF's Real Thirst 2, and Bed Rolls. Due to the old save, I already had to deal with the animation lag bug weeks ago, and never had problems again after that. A new fix now won't do, there seem to be no problems in the savegames. Today I played through Castle Ravenpride (DV as I wanted the voice acting), which caused lag soon as I started out of Bruma with the two NPCs on my heels. The lag was not worse, so no problem (I never experienced lag with following NPCs, and also not in fights with less than ~20 opponents in a small lightened area or a caster fight with spell effect overkill). Afterwards I decided to uninstall the mod so that I wouldn't run into compatibility issues with others. The uninstall exe did it's job not properly; even after re-installing UL Stendarr Valley and running the LOD tool, I found the rocks of the Ravenpride ascend hanging in the air in the mountains from far. Only when I came near they disappeared - a completely new thing too. Also, ever since I have said lag ingame as well as in the menu after some time, loading of menus, cells, and savegames takes forever as well as dismounting a horse, and there's the ctd problem. That doesn't mean that Ravenpride is the culprit, but as the lag and loading issues occured here for the first time, and the severe problems which I have now happened directly after uninstalling, it may be possible. The obvious Ravenpride-related files which I can track easily are gone. There might be something left, though. I do not use Wrye Bash, but (quick and dirty) OBMM and hand installation, which worked fine so far. Ivellon (no probs here) and Ravenpride are the only mods installed by their own exe. Due to time, I'd prefer to fix the game without a new installation. I hope someone can help me there. Edited December 29, 2013 by Ynguatep
Deleted3619564User
Make an Archive Invalidation from OBMM and try to use OSR and StreamLine to avoid wasting memory and CPU. It seems that you need to purge the cell buffer.
Ynguatep
Hi Alenet, thanks!I tried OSR and made an Archive Invalidation, which works out a bit (no extreme lag between cells any more). Indoor areas are fine, outdoor far from Imperial City also - mainly. I'm not all sure where the extreme lag comes from, but it is worst near Imperial City now, and sometimes occurs especially when I look towards the city. Deactivating the additional distant objects from Better Cities, as well as installing BC completely anew didn't help. So the baddy is likely not Ravenpride, though the fact that there was absolutely no lag before I installed it still bugs me.
Deleted3619564User
I wrote OSR AND Streamline.....not OR Streamline :) Be careful at the waterfront near the IC. It drains the frame rate with BC installed. Try also removing the open cities option in better cities if you have it enable.
Ynguatep
OK, I'll try :)I wasn't all sure about and or or so I tried OSR only first. Which makes the game playable, despite the fact that I can't truly enjoy the great new Waterfront. At least I can enter the area. Open Cities is not installed, seemed too likely to be incompatible with other mods to me. Thanks for helping!
Deleted3619564User
I am not talking about open cities mod; i am speaking about the open cities option INSIDE the better cities mod.
Ynguatep
Sorry for the late answer. The OC option is off, as well as the view of the new IC objects from distance. Anyways I guess I'll need to put OBMM aside and get used to WryeBash if I want to play further with my current mods. By now the LOD files of several areas is screwed up (though without lag), like the Colovian Caves from UL. With luck, that will solve some more problems. I'd like to avoid tp purge cell buffers, but if need be I'll do that. Thanks again! :)
Deleted3619564User
Colovian Highlands and other zones are very heavy with UL. You can try to change the clip distance to avoid rendering distant object. Try this at http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/43396/?It change the clip distance at runtime but doesn't purge the cell buffer. If you haven't 4gb of ram or above, you need to purge otherwise oblivion with several mods goes to low framerate or it crashes.
Ynguatep
That looks nice. At least I won't die by crab attacks any more near IC. RAM is 4GB, and Colovian Highlands usually no reason for lag. The only issue there is that the mountain is blank from far away. Changing the load order of several mods and re-installing the UL mod didn't help, no matter if I ran LODgen or not. Curiously even small objects are visible in other areas (also no lag problem far from IC), hamlets, bridges, fences, but the interesting Colovian Caves view in the distance is missing as well as most vanillia forts.I have no landscape mods running besides UL and BC, and there are no quest mods that would mess up the respective areas. Thanks for your patience with this dumbest possible user. :)
Deleted3619564User
Everytime you change the texture (add mods or remove mods) you need to make the archive invalidation but the problem seems to be the landscapelod. Make sure to install the ul lod.
