No Star Control quest, can't turn off defensive mode.

As the title says, I'm playing Nuka World and the Star Control quest never started for me, and I can't turn off defensive mode as a result (yes, I have 20 star cores in). Tiana's corpse is nowhere to be found at ANY of the entrances.

I have tried:

- Using console commands to start the quest (doesn't work, no error but nothing happens)

- Returning to the Commonwealth then coming back to the entrance

- Reading the Star Control terminal to start the quest (nothing happens)

- Reloading saves before I entered Star Control (Tiana's corpse still nowhere and reading terminal again does nothing)

Galactic Zone is the last park I have to clear before completing the whole quest. I have a sinking feeling that the problem here is that I briefly discovered Galactic Zone (and subsequently one of the entrances) before claiming all the other parks, so reloading a save before I discovered GZ is not an option here.

Please, somebody tell me that there's some way to fix this. I SINCERELY hope I am not softlocked here. This bug has been giving people grief since 2016 and I'm shocked it hasn't been fixed or a fix hasn't been found.

I remember there was a discussion about this in the forum somewhere in 2021 but I can't find it anywhere... but maybe it was related to another quest.

1) to verify the quest is running, type "ShowQuestStages DLC04GZMainQuest". It returns either 'Running' or 'Stopped'.

- if it's 'Stopped'

- does the command return any quest stages that are flagged as "(done)"?

- if so, which ones?

- if not, go to step 2)

- if it's 'Running', which quest aliases are 'None'? (See the console command 'ShowQuestAliases' below).

2) some weeks ago someone encountered a similar vanilla bug with the Star Control quest and asked me if there's a way to still use the population control system I made for one of my Open Season Extend mods as the bugged out Nuka-World quest locked them out of this feature at the Galactic Zone.

I made a small plugin that allows players to manually start, reset and stop the Star Control quest. Here's the link with the console commands.

(Note that the person I made the plugin for was looking to complete the quest through the console so it will probably not fix the problem with the vanilla quest but it will allow you to actually start and also reset it if needed).

Once the quest is running, use the console command "ShowQuestAliases DLC04GZMainQuest" to check if all quest aliases were filled on quest startup (i.e., they are not 'NONE').

By the way, I don't remember which aliases are mandatory and which are not but if you have many 'None' aliases then you probably won't be able to complete the quest normally (without further console commands). You can safely remove the plugin after the quest is completed.

Thank you! This worked. You are an absolute lifesaver.

It seems that Tiana's Corpse sometimes spawns somewhere underground. Did you try to noclip through the ground at the entrances of the Galactic Zone? Maybe you find her there and you can at least read the holotape.

Just for clarity's sake, I did try this and didn't find her anywhere. Regardless, if her corpse was underground but still technically present wouldn't I still get the Star Control quest popup to investigate her body, it would just be unreachable?

Having this issue in 2024... The link you provided seems to be down. My quest is stopped, it never started to my knowledge and I am on a vanilla 9 day 20 hour save. The current stage says 0. Any chance there's hope? The console commands haven't allowed me to start it or change the stage. I've reloaded my save to before my attempts messing with the quest. Thanks.

Based on the link it's on one of my mod's page, Nuka World Open Season Extend II.

The console commands and the link to the plugin (Google Drive folder) that allows restarting the quest can be accessed from there.
