InDarkestNight
I've long known that LE can't use more than 4gb of vram. This has left me perplexed regarding all the enbs out there that I clearly can't run. I exceed the system requirements for the game by leaps and bounds, and on SE I was running 4k textures on everything and any enb I wanted without any issue what-so-ever. I asked some time ago why this was. If LE can't use your entire system, then how is it that people can run things that I cannot? Recently while poking around on SFO's page I think, I think I may have found my answer. This limitation isn't actually a part of the game. Its in reality A GLITCH caused by running a directx9 game on windows 10. This got me wondering; could I avoid this glitch by running this on a different OS? I wanted to try Ubuntu years ago, but windows 10 apparently doesn't let you install another OS. Yeah, wonderful. I could work around this by just getting a new harddrive and formatting it. Would this actually be worth it though? If I ran this game on Ubuntu, or some other Linux OS, could I then run ENBs in my game without a minimum of 15 fps drop? Could I run my old 4k parallax textures again? I've heard this glitch doesn't exist on windows 7, which is the OS I originally ran this game on. Of course, downgrading to windows 7 or 8 or something like that isn't really an option obviously. Could switching to a non-windows OS fix this issue instead? This computer is now almost 5 years old, so I've been thinking it may not last much longer anyway. Maybe it is time to get a new harddrive and put Ubuntu on it. As for my harddrive, I have no idea still if its an SSD or HDD. I did find some info that says my storage device is an sshd. Seriously. That clearly doesn't help me much. I would suspect though that its a hard drive, because this game doesn't load any faster than it did on my windows 7 machine. SE wasn't any better regarding load times either. RomanR
Well, as Skyrim LE is 32-bit app running 32-bit version of DirectX libraries, by itself it can't pass limit 4GB, because 2^32 is exactly 4GB and you can't cram in it more. But I remember that ENB had experimental option named "ExpandSystemMemoryX64" in enblocal.ini file. Also ENB itself for Skyrim seems dependant with Skyrim version - I could use ENB v 0.272 with old Skyrim version 1.1.21.0 , but for 1.9.0.32.8 I of course must use higher (mine is v 0.308). Windows 10 also don't have DirectX 9 installed by default, they're using a wrapper. But you can still download the DirectX 2010 June SDK straight from Microsoft using this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109As I see the post date in 2021 and much higher version then mine own redist has, I'm assuming that there are additions for newer Windows too, so I really wouldn't use some other (often shady) webpages. And Windows 10 has something called "Game mode" (it was added by updates), but I see often complaints on this feature. As for switching OS, it's a million dollar question. Although Linux often handles multicore CPU better (no wonder running on super-computers and such), there's no guarantee in that for your computer. And as I have none experience how to run it under WINE or similar wrapper, I propably can't help you more.

InDarkestNight
I've already done the memory patch. Still, even the most performance-friendly ENBs drop my frames by 10~15. Most drop it by over 40. This is something that's long baffled me, but no one has given me an explanation. For its impossible for Skyrim to handle more, then why do all these enbs exist that my game clearly can't handle? I mean, MxR was even able to get Tetrachromatic ENB AND Spring Forest Overhaul working at the same time without ANY issues. How was it possible for him to do that? My game lagged to hell with both those installed, and rarely made it through loading screens. Even simply having Spring Forest Overhaul WITHOUT the enb tanked my fps too much. Clearly though people can run it, so why can't I? My rig IS powerful. When I played SE, I was running 4k parallax textures on everything, and any enb I wanted (even the most intense ones only dropped my frames by 2 or 3 at worst). I literally can't get my LE to run any better. Clearly people can do this somehow, so how are they doing this? Are they all still running windows 7? Does Linux and Mac not have this problem? How is everyone else doing this?
