Steam version of Fallout 3, need help.

Installed Fallout 3 via steam; installation had no real issue except mentioning turning something on or off in the "Turn Windows Features On or Off" section of control panels. Splash screen comes up and auto detects my setting. I press play and the screen goes dark, goes gray and I see the Windows circle cursor, then a message box comes up stating that Fallout 3 has stopped working correctly and windows will shut it off now. No error message, nothing. Can't find any solution online, only more people having the same issue w/ no fix. I can't even install a patch without this error coming up. Attempted to change compatibility options on the launcher and EXE, even tried running as Admin. No change. All Video Card drivers updated, windows updated, etc. :wallbash: :verymad:

Any assistance is appreciated, but I really would like to run the game I just bought.

Thanks ahead of time.

I have reinstalled it through steam for the 4th time, installed the K-Lite codec pack, added the exceptions for ffdshow audio/video in the codec pack, installed the GFWL disabler, and installed FOMM. Still the same result even when launching from FOMM. I was really hoping that would work...

So I need to log into the computer as Admin (which I am) or run Steam as Admin? I am trying to use FOMM to run it directly w/ out starting Steam and encountering the same issue as trying to run it with Steam up.

Edit: Now I read somewhere that having the game in Programs can cause issues if your running Vista, but I have Steam in Programs, so do I have to reinstall Steam? Would that cause this issue?
