ActRaiser 2

Morgoth

Recommended Posts

I've just started playing this one again after a resurrection of a SNES in the house, and must say that I find the simple hack'n'slash action quite enjoyable (although people seem to agree that ActRaiser 2 isn't as good as its predecessor which included a strategy part - unfortunately, I haven't played the first part yet).

However, I am despairing due to the boss battles - I can remember that one should use a specific magic power for every boss, but somehow the manual of the game was lost over the years, so I have been only able to defeat Fatigue (out of pure luck) so far. If anyone has the game and could provide me with some information on the magic powers, I'd be most grateful :)

Go to www.emuasylum.com if you want to play the first one! you can download it there, as well as an emulator. I recommend snes9xw for those with windows, past that, go for whatever is available for your system.

Or if you have a problem with the site, i can send you a copy.

I never played the second one for very long, as i didnt have a manual and couldn't get into it the way i could with the first one. It looked great from what i saw of it, though.

My SNES has been hooked up and playable ever since the damned system came out! personally I have yet to find a system that has better gameplay than the SNES... I own Actraiser 1... and I loved the way that you had to protect a city, than you could actually play the ol' hack and slash way... its sweet... I take it that AR2 is the same though... or am I wrong?

Finished ActRaiser, and it surely is great fun - although I have to agree with the reviews I read that it is way too short and easy (well, with the exception of the boss fight if you haven't found any of the Sources of Life).

For ActRaiser 2, the developers unfortunately cut out the strategy part (city-building with your angel as a protector) completely, so you're only left with a slightly more complex hack&slash part (there are more possibilities for movement since they gave the Master wings, and you have access to a relatively huge range of spells (a list of which is what I'm looking for ^^) - and of course, there's a few more levels than in the first part).
