DrakEmono
Hiya! While having quite a lot of experience into software and web development (especially with small projects though), I would like to try myself into modding.Although I have a first idea for my first mod and it sounds like okay with the permissions of a potential patch I would like to do, I still have a question in case I would try another patch for another mod:Do I need a specific permission to make a patch for a mod (especially modification permission) or as long as we don't directly touch the original mod, we are free to do the patchs we want/feel the need to do?Thanky! IsharaMeradin
It honestly depends on the mods in question and what the patch itself is intending to do. The way I look at it is as follows:Will I move their pre-placed objects? Will I place instances of their objects? Will I copy / modify their assets? If the answer is yes, get permission. Anything else that requires you to link to some record in some way so that something independent of the original mod and not affecting the original mod could take place should be fine. There are some caveats to that of course. In a nutshell, if you are unsure, seek permission. And no matter what, always credit when possible. DrakEmono
I wouldn't touch any kind of asset or object, nor replace any files. In fact, it was to add perks from some mods which were supposed to be aimed for another perk mod, and instead directing them to Ordinator. But with some more researches, I actually noticed that someone already did it (would have been curious nobody did before)But yeah, if it's just a such patch, I guess it's fine? Anyway, I'm just a coder, I'm not really good into making assets, and I don't plan to use others' assets unless specified that I have permission to do so.
