TrentHelsing
I'm not using sneak tools, and the problem didn't begin until recently. I had a few mods installed, the problem seems to have begun when I installed/attempted to install the Vilja Companion mod. Starting a new character allowed the new character to talk to people, but i am curios if there may be a way to not throw away the last 11 hours of gameplay. HeyYou
What happens when you try and talk to them? Can you 'activate' them? Can you pickpocket?
TrentHelsing
when i try to talk, they look at me and do nothing else. a lot of the npcs will say 'yes,' though it is not always voiced (a silent 'yes') Mods i have installed superior lore friendly hairforstfallpumping ironrainbowsrealistic needs and diseasesrealistic room rentalshooting starssit anywheretake noteswet and coldprivate selective quiverswearable lanternsradiant and unique potions and poisonsapocalypse spell packageTARDISBook covers skyrimglowing eyes v4ZX eyesSchool of knowledge and youthMoonlight talesskyreunofficial patchstatic mesh improvementvigilant of stendarr questsviljaquality world mapskyuIskse patcher for steambelt-fastened quiversfootprintsimmersive weapons The majority i've been using for awhile- Vilja is the most recent and might be the cause, but i'm not sure why it would cause me to not be able to speak to anyone. EDIT: I can pickpocket, they just refuse to talk. Everyone from beggars to Ulfric wont say anything to me but 'yes.' they still speak to others, however. just not me. kelticpete
do you see the E and their name? I have a gltich where only some of the npcs could not be talked to. the blacksmith and his helper in windhelm, nils, and edda. the only mods you and I have in common are wearable lanternsunofficial patchstatic mesh improvementquality world mapskyuIimmersive weapons did you unistall vilja and goto old save before that mod to see if it worked? TrentHelsing
I get the E, yeah. It's *probably* not wearable lanterns, as i had to talk to someone to actually buy the lantern. I'll try disabling Vilja and loading an old save, then try disabling the mesh improvements, since i've had the rest since the beginning. UPDATE: Disabling the mesh improvement didn't work, trying vilja. Edited January 5, 2014 by TrentHelsing
TrentHelsing
Disabled vilja and loaded an older save, it seems to have worked.
kelticpete
sweet. this is why you make a solid save before you add a mod. and why ( though I don't follow this advice well) you should add only one mod at time, then play for awhile, do at least one quest, then do a hard save, before you add another.. you can even name your save...did you know that? hit ` and then type SAVE mysavebeforenewmod or Save "insertnamehere" (i learned this from a mod that taught me to type save mysave1, mysave2, etc.... that way you name your saves in your file and when your game effs you can easily find saves
TrentHelsing
I'm going to go in with Vilja again to see if it works on an older save. There's a chance, albeit slim, it isn't Vilja. I started both Vilja and the lanterns mods while in the wilds, and didn't realize it was bugging out until I reached Windhelm. It could be either or, due to that. (the save is prior to both, so im testing a little to be certain)
TrentHelsing
Well hot damn, loading Vilja up on the older save worked like a charm. It might be the lantern after all, though I don't see why, exactly. I'll do a little more testing later.
