Hello everyone,

Recently got off work, planning to get back at gaming. But I realized my PC at home is very old for newer AAA titles. I have only played MMORPG games and only played morrowind back then..

Now my pc at home is a G4560 + 8gb ram + GT 1030. I have purchase skyrim special edition on steam (Thanks to god it was sale today, So I grab one). But unlucky when trying some environmental enhancement mods I found on youtube (just only few), My PC just stutters like i have 5-8 FPS.

Is there a way I can enhance my visuals with my oldie PC? Is there any visual enhancement that my PC will be able to pull off?

Thanks and regards..

I just dunno... such specs these days are seriously behind the curve. What's your FPS running purely vanilla? Sure, some may say that Skyrim is a 2011 game, but that's the 32-bit original. The 2016 SSE is a much updated title with 64-bit engine, higher res textures and a new set of hardware requirements....

Most visuals enhancing mods in Skyrim start with jacking up the textures, and going from 1k to 2k or 4k can completely smash an older PC, even at 1920x1080...

Those mod showcase YouTube videos you see are pretty much guaranteed to be made on a 11th+ gen CPU with 32G+ of RAM and at least RTX3070...

There are several 'downscaled' texture mods, some have been cleaned of artifacts as well. The lowest resolution packages might be a bit of help. Pfuscher's 202X is one ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/68307 ), and this for Skyrim 3D Trees ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/87656 ) - I don't use 3D trees.

Another interesting one is a texture downscaler to force the SE/AE textures to a lower value: Skyrim SE Textures Downscaler ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/66443 ) - I don't use this, either.

You can always go to each mod page and ask your question there, someone might be able to help you with a direct answer(s).

As Leonidas suggested, using lower res textures will help, and also consider reducing the game quality setting from ultra to one of the lower settings. This goes especially in outdoor situations where the game can really lean hard on your hardware. indoors, things are usually a bit less stressful, but the lack of horse power really shows up outside (ime 1060SC)

what you can try stick with vanila texture and use this mod enhanced texture detail uv tweaks is a old mod but it make all things look much better from close by and not that blurry

you can start with that and see how it looks and runs
