faffman
I just started a new character today, and I'd had the idea of what to do with this guy for a couple of days. What I did was, when entering Helgen Keep with Hadvar, I used the console to level up the skills my character will be using by some levels. It is a role-playing game, after all, so I pretty much decided on what my character's role would be. In this case, I'm doing a skilled Nord warrior who excels at two-handed and heavy armor among others, but who also recently, a few weeks before being captured by the imperials, decided to pick up some magic, so I leveled conjuration the same way. I distributed the perks the way I wanted (and cheated a bit by adding perks with the console). On a side note, I would like to thank modder LightStar for his console book mod, that made it ridiculously easy for me to find the commands I wanted. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10627/? Now, the idea I have is, what if you could start a new game in a similar way, but "done properly"? You have your race bonuses of course, but you can add levels to each skill tree, adding up so you end at level 15 when you're done leveling. Then you add the perks any way you want, and then your game starts. Having a mod for this would help for two reasons. First, it's to speed up this process of finishing your character, but also to properly level enemies, loot etc., as I found the Stormcloaks in Helgen did level with me, while the spiders and the bear at the end died in one hit (pretty much). A mod like this would have you start with somwhat decent abilities, so you don't have to level everything up again after all those characters you've made in the past. I hope anyone can at least be interested in this, and if so, please write here. Edited January 6, 2014 by faffman
Shadeybladey
Sounds a bit like Requiem, which gives you three perks to start off. There are also mods that let you control character creation like in Oblivion or Morrowind. But if you cheat your skills like this, use incpcs <skillname> Don't use a command to set your skill to something, like setav. With incpcs conjuration, for example, it increases the PC's conjuration skill by 1 point. Do it 10 times, get 10 Conjuration points etc. It takes longer, but it levels you up properly. And do not give yourself more perks than you qualify for. ~.~
faffman
Indeed, I used the command you said, though it's actually incpcs. I will read up on this Requiem business, thanks for the tip. And I will add all the perks that I want, thank you. I do not promote cheating, but I've made so many characters, a bit of cheating doesn't hurt too much. I also balance it by raising the difficulty. Shadeybladey
Here's an idea - Say you imagine your character as starting with 10 extra points in One-Handed and Heavy Armour, and 5 extra points in Conjuration, Put this in a text file called something like Spellsword.txt, or whatever you like, and put it in ...Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim incpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs onehandedincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs heavyarmorincpcs conjurationincpcs conjurationincpcs conjurationincpcs conjurationincpcs conjuration Then, in the console, type bat spellsword and it will increase your skills. That should make you level 5 and give you 4 free perks before you even have to hit anything. Of course, you could add as many skill points as you like and use whatever skills you like. Just make a text file before you start. All the skill names are obvious, with no hyphens or spaces, except archery is Marksman. The only problem to me with this approach is that is builds on your racial bonuses and gives you free levels. The Morrowind and Oblivion Class Creation mods (and Requiem) balance things by lowering all your base scores, adding racial bonuses, then class bonuses and sometimes giving you a specialisation. ~.~
Shadeybladey
And I will add all the perks that I want, thank you. OK, break your game. You're on your own.
