OrethTheCentaur
Hi guys, I'm a massive fan of survival mods like Frostfall, RN&D and Hunterborn. I think that they are all integrated incredibly well into Skyrim. However I was wondering if it would be possible (with the original mod authors permission) to make them more seamless with each other? Some examples of what I mean Item Creation:All of these mods allow you to make survival items but usually through different means. For example Frostfall's item creation menu is found in the Craft Item ability and Hunterborns is found in the Scrimshaw menu. It would be nice to see all the survival mods found in one place. (Although I do like the flavour of Scrimshaw being it's own special skill. Ideally tents & backpacks would be made through this menu too, not the tanning rack) Food Temperature:Meals made at the spit could be hot. Eating a warm meal would reduce your exposure. Beggar's Stew (Hot) could become Beggar's Stew (Cold) using the same technique that makes food spoil but at a much quicker rate. (Chesko had a go at this by having soups and stews give a Exposure Resistance bonus, but I think the temp of the food should count as much as the type.)Likewise drinking cold water would increase your exposure. Redundancy:Frostfall and RN&D both add tents, fires and cooking pots to the game. It would be nice to disable one mods set of items. It breaks immersion a bit for me to see multiple versions of something in the menus. Perks:It would be awesome to see these all seamlessly integrated with each other in a perk tree like Frostfall is for SkyRe's Wayfarer. What do you guys think, could someone put something like this together with a nice MCM?? Edit: We also need an option to be able to give a follower our backpack, and then command them to set up our camp and cook for us a meal :P Edited January 9, 2014 by OrethTheCentaur
Shadeybladey
I use Frostfall and RND, Hunter Traps etc and lots of other Ranger-type, survivalist crafting Mods. I prefer the camping gear and backpacks from Frostfall, but I prefer the tinderbox from RND for lighting a fire. For one thing, it only uses 3 firewood logs! And i like the way the cooking pots work as well. I also have More Dynamic Things which lets me chop down trees. The menus don't bother me as much as those in some clothing, weapons and armour mods, which add dozens of the things. You could do what I did (for your own use), such as delete COBJ recipes you do not want from each esp. I got rid of dozens of fancy pants cloak and clothing recipes like that from a mod. I just left leather and fur, black, brown, white, with wolf or bear skins. That was all I wanted to craft in-game. You still find the other items in-game and if you leave the tempering recipes alone you can temper things like "Steel with wolf fur trim helmet", but you do not get bogged down with a zillion crafting items you do not want. Or, with RND, you can already hide the crafting of tents etc in the MCM menu. You might have more success asking the original authors to add more MCM options. It is not a bad idea as such, and it would be nice if the authors of hugely popular mods got together to rationalise these things a bit more. But it's a lot of extra work for very little gain and a lot of people do not use all three mods, so it would mean multiple, new versions to maintain. Mod authors usually do not mind what you do on your own PC as long as you do not upload it as your own work or upload it on another site claiming it is the original or distribute it to other people in any other way. Doing either of those things would get the uploader quite rightly banned anyway. But they are usually fine about permission to make compatibility patches etc. I am not so sure about an alternative, integrated mod that uses three mods as a base. Where would it be hosted? Who's mod would it be? Who would get the endorsements etc? ~.~
