question: esp limit, categories? skyrim le+mo2

Hello, newbie question, but I really don't know if it really exists, the esp files can be armor, landscape, AI modifiers, etc.
The question that I cannot find an answer (and it is not clear to me) in a Google search is:
Do those esp all count and are added to that limit of 248 esp? Or are they different categories and some are counted and others are not?

this is why i don't understand:

What happens is that over time I have completely forgotten that I have 9. esp file copied directly to the data folder. I mean, 257 esp, without taking into account when I played with 250 (that is, it really was 259)

for Skyrim LE, everywhere it says that there is a limit of 248 esp file limit, I imagine that by adding the two DLCs it reaches 250.
I use MO2 to manage the mods, in the Plugins tab I have always wanted to have between 245 and 248 to have room to try a new mod and/or change another.

For example, can I have 200 esp armor file and these will not be counted? add 150 esp landscape file + 98 any other esp that changes AI, adds something to the game, be it idle, fnis, or anything? + the DB and HF dlc? thus being a different total in the MO2 plugins tab?

of course without counting any mod that does not add an esp to the MO2

well...

sorry for the long read, thanks

Skyrim LE is setup to function as follows:

There are 256 total slots within the "load order" field. 0 - 255 or 00 - FF in hex as most mod managers and utilities will report.

The break down is as such:

00 = Skyrim.esm

01 = Update.esm

02 = Dawnguard.esm

03 = Hearthfires.esm

04 = Dragonborn.esm

05 - FE = 250 available slots for any combination of mod added ESM and ESP files regardless of their category.

FF = Active memory including anything created or spawned in-game as well as loaded from the save file

Skyrim SE is the same except that the ESL plugin space takes up slot FE and thus the total potential number of non-light ESM & non-light ESP files are reduced by one.

If there are more active ESM & ESP files than the limit, the game may randomly choose which ones get loaded.

The game will crash with too many ESM & ESP files in the Data folder including those that are not activated via a mod manager.

With MO2 as long as you keep the unused mods unchecked in the left pane such that their plugins will not be exposed to the data folder, you can have as many installed as your heart desires. Keeping the plugin tab (load order) under 248 as you have been doing is probably good practice. Also, just because you manually installed 9 plugins, MO2 should be aware of them and include them in the plugin tab.

I will review the list in detail in mo2 plugin assets. and if so.... well, I'm going to have to look for all the mods that I disabled haha.
I'll review it in detail tonight. thank you very much for your prompt response
