Failed to Write Load Order - Does Vortex No Longer Support Baldur's Gate 3?

I used to be able to run BG3 mods through Vortex just fine, but something changed in the last couple days.

Now, whenever I try and install a mod, I get the following error

Failed to write load order

Please run the game at least once and create a profile

First off, I've run the game many times. I can also confirm I have a profile selected in Vortex.

When I click "More" it says Error: Cannot read properties of undefined(reading 'children')

When I click "Show Details" I get the following:

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'children')

Does anyone have any ideas? Because at this point, I'm out of them and I think I'm just going to completely uninstall Vortex.

The error message seems to mean that Vortex cannot find the extension it needs to support Baldur's Gate.

Click the Vortex Extensions tab and check the list to see if you have it installed. If it is not there, find it, then re-install and activate it. Close out of Vortex before you try to launch the game again. Wait a bit before you re-launch Vortex. Check to make sure the BG3 is still there and it is enabled before you try to launch the game from within Vortex.

Did the error go away?

Hi cdrake1991,

Sorry you are having problems. Can you check what version of the BG3 extension you are running please? If you go to Vortex > Extensions > Make sure 'Show Bundled' is clicked and it'll be under 'Game: Baldur's Gate 3' in the list. The version number is on the far right of the window.

Latest version is 1.3.7 and so if it is less than that, update if Vortex asks you to after a restart. If it doesn't ask for an update, and you are running a version like 1.2.2, we can dig deeper into getting you the latest version.

Thanks

insomnious

load order doesn't change to reflect mods being added or removed. running vortex 1.9.5, extension 1.3.7, got the same error as above:

This will reset load order but an easy way to check if you have orphaned pak files that are causing the problem is to Purge mods in Vortex and then check the Mods folder (%APPDATA&\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods). This should be now empty. If it isn't, then there are PAK files there that Vortex hasn't installed and this is causing the bug. You can safely delete whatever is in this folder and then go back into Vortex and press Deploy. This will then copy all of Vortex's managed mods back to where they should be.

Sorry this is a bit annoying, the new update is close to being released and is still being tested. Feel free to try out the pre-release version and let us know how you get on. Quicker we get more eyes on this, the quicker we can roll it out to everyone.

Kind regards,

insomnious

Same here; having a problem with the load order not working. I've tried so many ways to get it to load, and nothing has worked; I just get this error.
