ss6
Hey gang, So after a few playthroughs, I find maintaining items through repair to be a chore. Yet, those mods that disable item disintigration effectively render the repair skill useless, which I find distasteful. So here is my idea for compromise: Ideal Repair mod would: -Disable item disintegration.-The current condition of all of your equipment would be equal to your current Repair skill. For example, if your Repair skill is at 50%, then the condition of all your weapons and armor would be at 50%.-That's it! Such a mod would remove the tedium of Repairing items, but still render the Repair skill extremely useful. Your Repair skill would reflect your ability to maintain your gear, and preserve the original intention of the game. Unfortunately, I don't know how to program whatsoever, so I was wondering if anyone was interested in making such a mod, or could point me in the right direction to find a similar mod. -SS6
Skree000
kinda neat, but i would do this: add a perk called 'Repair Ninja' (or named something similar) effect: Prevents condition of weapon from dropping lower than the percentage you have in this skill.maybe make it so each point spent adds 20% that seems fair. it takes your idea, and the mods ideas and merges them together ;)
ss6
I think that's a good idea, if anything, because I just realized there might be some balance issues with characters with high repair becoming filthy rich, because every plasma rifle they pick up off the ground is in mint conditions. However, I would like to see the changes become universal, instead of being a perk.
gsmanners
I like my no-damage-to-weapon mod because weapons don't really work like that. A real weapon only needs to be cleaned, and that's a trivial exercise. I wouldn't say Repair is useless to me, just more important toward the start of the game than later on. To put it another way, if you allow damage to weapons, that makes weapon's availability more important than that weapon's inherent effectiveness, and I think that disrupts the proper balance of the game. Bigger, more powerful weapons already have the disadvantage of being more costly in terms of ammunition. They don't need a further disadvantage. What's really messed up is the economics of the game. The game's vendors should really do a better job of respecting the real supply/demand side of the equation.
