Deleted6292742User Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Hello. I am trying to start creating my own elements to skyrim using the creation kit, but I am having some problems understanding the creation kit. I literally just started experimenting today and have found a lot of info on the creation kit on the forums and youtube, but one important thing still eludes my search.I am trying to create a custom character but I don't know how to save the final product as an .esp file. There is the save icon and "save" under the file menu, but when I select that, it only overwrites the plugin. To be a bit more clear I'll explain the steps I have taken.1:Run program as administrator2: Load the master files "skyrim" and "skyrim update" and load plugin (in this case FFrace.esp) as active file3: Make duplicate copy of mithra race and change the duplicate's id to "mithratest"4: make desired changes to race and hit enter to complete changes and return to main screen5: (this is where I can't figure it out.) now I want to save it so I select "file" and "save" (I don't get an option to select where to save it, I want to save it in my data folder as a .esp file, but it just says "plugin saved" at the bottom of the screen.) When I load my game, the FFrace.esp file is enabled, and I can see the changes I made to the character which I figure must mean that the original .esp was simply overwritten. I want to create new characters in the future, but without knowing how to save as an .esp file, I'll just be overwriting the default races. (or is that last statement not accurate?) It's probably a simple thing that I'm missing and again, I have looked for an answer with no luck. Any help or links to forums or sites that could help me to figure out how to save a .esp file so I can create new races would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. (I really feel stupid asking such a simple question...) :wallbash:Also I think I posted this in the right place. If not please let me know
Deleted6292742User Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Sorry. I just found a tutorial that covers Everything... Ck does not have a save as feature. In order to make this post not a complete waste I will post the link. "http://www.creationkit.com/Category:Getting_Started" Edited January 14, 2014 by Guest
Xander9009 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 You save it as a new file by loading all the files you want but do NOT mark anything as an active file. The active file is simply how the program refers to the file to which changes will be saved. If you don't mark any as active file, then when you save, it'll ask what you want to name the file. It doesn't have a save-as feature, but it is still very easy to make a new file.
