Deantendo Posted October 27, 2023 Share Posted October 27, 2023 I'm so glad there are good people working on this. It seems so hugely over-complicated. I'm only dipping my toes in to make some geo for things i think the ship-builder needs (not textures etc.. just geo) - I exported the Deimos wing component (after MUCH head-bashing) and got it into Blender (thankfully there's a plugin for that!) and i noticed that such a seemingly simple part had over 50k verts. I couldn't believe it. There must be reasoning i'm not aware of for such a vastly bulky vert count, but i would have expected Bethesda to fake most of the very minor detail with height maps. But even straight-up in the geo? 50k+ still seems crazy.It's no wonder the game can struggle with large ship builds.Anything i make is going to be a lot lighter than that.
