I have recently started experiencing a bug where I can't open lockers or doors. I press e to open/close and nothing happens. I have tried binding to a different key but that doesn't work. I am still able to loot containers and pick up items.

Have any of you experienced this bug, and how did you fix it?

This is game-breaking and since I can't do many missions without opening doors.

Dumb question, do you use the scanner while trying to open doors / lockers ? It looks like it .. scanner doesn't allow these specific interactions

Hey, Zombie. I had the same issue out of the blue today but I was able to fix it.

Here's some background: I took the latest Starfield update a few days ago and then game would crash just before the Starfield title screen appeared. I updated all of my mods to their latest versions that support the new update and the game loaded eventually. However, doors would no longer open even though the door opening sound was triggering and prompt [Open with E] was visible. After some soul searching (and crawling every mod in file explorer) I remembered that I deployed some mods with Vortex and others manually. Also, one of the mods I was using was the latest "Faster Airlock" (https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/2489) which I installed via Vortex. I'm not sure the mod itself was 100% related but its worth mentioning. Anywho, on to my point!

The solution: "Symlink Deployment" doesn't work in Starfield and will break mods (ie. files that have the .symlink file extension). What sucks is that this is the default deployment method in Vortex when running with elevated [admin] privs. So, I crawled every folder within my various <[drive]/*/Starfield/*> folders, located every .symlink file, downloaded the manual version of each mod instead of the Vortex version, and replaced the .symlink files with the original file (.esp, .dll, .bin, etc). You'll need to pop open two file explorer windows (one for the fresh downloads and the other for the location of the .symlink files). Next, highlight the .symlink files and delete them from the folder (you can't overwrite them directly as your PC thinks they are in use). Then, copy the manual files from your downloads folder and add them to the original location (where you just deleted the .symlink files from). Once you replace them all, try loading up your game again. FYI, if you were using it to begin with, you may need to reinstall the Baka Achievement Enabler to your <*/Starfield/Data/SFSE/> folder again (https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/658).

Hope this helps!
