BlazeStryker
It's time to discuss the elephant in the room... Bethesda's utterly insipid item weight hodgepodge. Regardless of player preference, it's about as nonsensical as scrapping returns, and that's saying a LOT. So, having just said a lot, let's move on. Many items don't spawn in critter inventories unless the critter is dead. It may not spawn at all if it's weightless, a problem that plagued several Skyrim mods and made weightlessness mods less than ideal. On top of all that, mod-added items often aren't affected by weight-adjusting mods as they are, in fact, added to the rolls. In recent months, the solution was found. It's called Re-weighter. It works off category, meaning you can set weapons, (al)chemicals, foods, and so on and everything in the category has that much weight. Modded, vanilla, whatever. The controls are MCM for ease of adjustment. When I first encountered Re-weighter, within 24 hours I was sending a message to the mod creator crowing to him that his mod was a great solution to the spawning/drop issue as something requiring weight is no great impediment when 0.05 is a weight (and it is!) (By the way; did you know that a JOINT currently weighs a full weight unit? I'm sure the maker of Mary Jane didn't intend that, but that just emphasizes the need for this weight fix!) Bottom line? We need this for Fallout 4. The actual creator of Re-Weighter for Skyrim Special Edition (MaskedRPGFan) is currently on sabbatical from modding to actually play games (also, he's never modded Fallout 4 before and the man's done 419 mods for various things!). If you want to work off his creation as a basis, I suggest getting his permission to do so, then downloading Re-Weighter to examine for yourself and adapt to Fallout 4. Trust me, setting the carryweight issue in a way people can adjust to their liking would be a true Godsend.
fraquar
What is the obsession with weightlessness in a survival game?Weight carrying capacity should always be the elephant in the room in a Survival game.a) Give the player their weight carrying capacity based on their character build.b) Work within that limitation. If I want to build a glass cannon 1 Strength character then I know if I want to move anything of consequence I need to jump in Power Armor.Otherwise, I need to pick and choose my encumbrance items. Moreover, I need to restrain myself to not think I can just carry whatever I want. To get the Barbell Weights from the Gym opposite Old North Church I have to make two trips in Power Armor. That means if I really want that Lead, I need to clear the path first and get ready for an extended journey to get it to Diamond City. ----- This said I've seen the reverse of this argument.i.e. people wanting to limit the amount of ammo they can carry in a single caliber - regardless if they have the carry capacity to carry more. ----- I don't understand either side of the argument in a Survival game. You (and emphasis on YOU) carry what you need to survive.
gooseloose89
I'd be down to make most of the items in fallout 4 weightless just cause it'll be easy, but boring and will take an hour+..
