jmike00
Hey folks. It's been at least 5 years since I've seriously played Oblivion. For Christmas I received the Elder Scrolls Anthology and decided now is the time to go back and play though Oblivion again. I'm familiar with OOO and MMM but since it's been so long since I've played I'm seriously thinking of avoiding any gameplay changing mods and enjoy a Vanilla mechanics game. Mainly what I am looking for are mods that provide visual or immersive improvements and more specifically mods that may have flown under the radar or simply not spotlighted enough after Oblivion's popularity faded to Fallout:NV and Skyrim. Most mod guides for Oblivion that I have found are several years old and include mods I'm familiar with or at least remember from when I played it before but naturally don't have any recommendations post 2010-2011. Visual Mods I plan on using from memory or skimming over a few older guides are OBGE +pluginsQarlsBommretsImproved Trees and FloraRAEVWDBetter CitiesImpREAL CitiesUnique LandscapesNatural EnvironmentsEnhanced WaterAWLSOpen Cities? (not sure on this one, I seem to remember it causing me issues before) Is there a nice mod list that I can find that has misc or random object(s) re-textures? There's nothing I hate more than to have a nicely modded game only to come across an object that wasn't covered in a texture pack and sticks out like a sore thumb against the rest of the higher res textures. I also remember quality vanilla armor retextures not being available, if I'm incorrect in that forgive me. Any recommendations are welcome but remember I'm mainly looking for visual mods unless it's something very good that has come out post Fallout:NV which is when I really stopped completely following oblivion modding. Sonja
If you are focusing on visuals (and even if you are not) The Oblivion Character Overhaul by Nuska is a MUST HAVE. She has banished the potato heads from the game!Seriously... the NPCs suddenly look amazing, but they also look real, rather than being overly made up or anime-like. In my personal view it blows every previous NPC/PC overhaul out of the water.Though... such things are always personal preference. :wink:http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/44676/? jmike00
I actually stumbled upon V1 of this by accident when trying to find some form of animation replacement. V2 looks even better and it's definitely going on the list. Now to find something to fix the animations where people don't move like they have a solid rod attached from their tailbone to their spine. Thanks for the link!!!
