  1. Look at it this way.... Nexus has suddenly shaved years away from the ageing process... At least, that's what I'm trying to tell myself.
  2. I quite like the clean, uncluttered look. Somewhat ironically, given how long we're talking, it also reminds me of the old VBulletin format from forums I was involved with years ago. I mean that in a good way. I also had no trouble signing in, and considering how these sorts of things can go sometimes, I'm happily surprised. However, I do have a concern. It appears as though it's no longer possible to search specific mod comment page threads via the forum side of things. Unless I'm missing something? I guess, given you've completely separated the two, that does make sense from a technical standpoint. I do hope, though, that you'll eventually add the ability to search within comments... In part, for the sake of people like me, who usually just ask questions as a last resort (either for trouble-shooting, or out of curiosity), and, more importantly, for the sake of mod authors who are already deluged with the same questions over and over.
  3. ".... All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."
  4. I've experienced this issue for a long time. It is why I block the authors of translation mods if they don't release anything else. I don't actually want to block said authors (it feels kind of wrong), but if I don't want translations to overwhelm my feed, I'm not left with much choice.
  5. Thanks for the heads-up! I think it's brilliant CDPR is doing this, but I have a modded game in progress, so I just deselected auto-update ( gotta love GOG for that feature! ). Also, the game has aged fantastically well… even without any mods/updates, it STILL looks very good!
  6. While I like this idea in theory, I agree with everyone that rejects it, for all the reasons they cite. It's really not that difficult to browse through a mod's comment and bug section to determine if it's still working. Although plenty of users who post in the bug and comment sections are extremely unreliable and the authors of their own problems (because they're apparently semi-illiterate and refuse to RTFM), usually enough more knowledgeable/ conscientious people have posted accurate statements about the mod. Also, if it's a complex mod that makes fundamental changes to the game, and it hasn't been updated in years, regardless of what the comments say, it's typically a good rule of thumb to avoid it; besides, chances are that somebody has made something similar, and more up-to-date. Most mesh and texture mods will be fine, and very simple plug-ins (such as a basic house mod) should also work..... anything beyond that, though... just use common sense, it isn't especially complicated to figure out.
  7. Have you all of you disaffected authors (and to be clear, I support you 100%), considered banding together and maybe setting up a collaborative sub-reddit (though... you'd likely want to make it by invite only... if the behaviour of the Skyrim sub is any indication), or something similar on an entirely different site? Anyway, yes, if you even feel inclined to share your work somewhere else after all this (and I wouldn't blame you if you are no longer have interest), please do let us find you.
  8. OK, glad it's not only me... I came here precisely to see if anyone else had a problem. I literally just upgraded to a screaming fast computer, and this is my first time visiting the site on this PC, so don't think I'm experiencing cache issues. Everywhere else I've went on the internet has sped like greased lightening.. but as soon as I hit Nexus and tried to download one of my screenies to use as desktop wallpaper, my browser slowed to an absolute crawl.
  9. I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to thank you for this, as well as add a SetStage command. :) I experienced the same problem where constructing the actuators didn't progress the quest.. so I hit up Google and eventually arrived here. I tried the 160 stage as you suggested, but.. what happened is that while Liberty Prime started up no problem, the game assumed I'd already found the bombs at Sentinal, so when I went to speak with Maxson, he gave me the Blind Betrayal quest... which was a problem, because Danse was still there with me. I considered returning to my save, and dismissing Danse before mucking with the console, but.. I was worried something would go wrong, so, instead, I did more digging and landed at the Wiki Page (https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Liberty_Reprimed). Instead of using 160, I tried using 140. This time, my journal directed me to find Scribe Haylen at Waypoint Echo; I headed there, chatted with Scribe Haylen, and everything proceeded as normal. I'm not sure why the 160 command didn't precisely work for me, but I do have several mods affecting the Brotherhood/Danse, most notably "The Danse Dilemma," and I just had to deal with a bug in that (which I seem to have resolved), so there may be a relationship. Who knows.... Bethesda games... they're a tad buggy to begin with, and, of course, once you start adding mods to the equation things sometimes become even more buggy. So... if anyone find themselves in my situation, hopefully this will help! :)
  10. Oh good... glad it isn't just me. Yep, all of a sudden I'm flooded with over 300 comment reply notifications, and I am also getting the not working/reload error. I'd turn off the comment notifications, but I can't seem to find where those settings are any longer, or am I just missing something (always a distinct possibility) ?
  11. Is there any chance we could get something like this? Please? I know many people like them, which is totally fine, but they do tend to dominate a lot of the time, and I'm sure I'm not the only person here who prefers to build personal characters, and/or just isn't interested in presets. Cheers for the consideration.
  12. In response to post #82016448. #82018443, #82038358, #82065273, #82107208, #82139023, #82139513 are all replies on the same post. "....although there isn't really a good reason not to have the latest version installed unless you have an out of date and/or pirated copy of the game." Putting aside unnecessary accusations of piracy, and privacy concerns for the moment, you guys DO KNOW that, in fact, many of us deliberately prevent FO4 and Skyrim SE from updating so that our carefully built installs aren't buggered up whenever Bethesda adds yet another pointless CC update?
  13. This situation is really making me realise just how important the Image Share is to me, in large part because it has created such a lovely and supportive community. I really enjoy connecting with people through this medium, and over the last few months that has felt even more vital. Kudos to all of you!
  14. I wonder how universal that is, though? In many places, here being one of them, it's business as usual, across the board, after New Year's Day. Also, I've seen quite a few reports of the site being extremely slow well before the holidays commenced in full. Quite clearly, the holiday traffic would have impacted things during the time; I don't deny that. However there seems to be something more going on. I suppose, to 100% rule out holiday traffic as a culprit we should probably give it maybe another week, but even so. My guess is that there have been so many changes to the site over the last 12 months, and especially the last few, that there are some bugs and kinks to squash. Oddly enough, I've been comparatively lucky, but even I noticed *A LOT* of errors, timeouts, and general slowness today... And, that is just the site alone, I haven't really downloaded much lately, because my games are either in good shape, or I'm not feeling a compulsion to play those that require updating/overhauling. Nonetheless, to test, I did just redownload a mod for FO4 that I'd been wanting to grab again, and that went lickety split, even with my non-premium account, so there appears to be some randomness involved too. No idea, I just know where I am school is still out, which is what I'm attributing MY problems to be. But yea, this is the longest a speed problem has gone on, and it's been awfully quiet on the official end of things. I'm currently unable to log in to Vortex and get a 524 timeout error when I try to get an API key to log in, something that I was able to do yesterday. I'd really appreciate it if there wasn't such a Bethesda-like silence about everything Fair enough, and it's normal to regard such things from a local POV when you're trying to figure out cause. Agreed about the Beth-like silence... Nexus is typically far better than that, and remaining silent only encourages the conspiracy theories. Granted, I've had my differences with the site, at times, but wow.. some of the theories I've seen are... entertaining?

  16. +1 This is a feature I've wanted for a long time. That it's already in Download History is great to know, though.
  17. In response to post #73638943. #73639038, #73639228 are all replies on the same post. Eh... the survey was right on the Beta page, as I recall, and pretty hard to miss. That said, my honest sympathies that it isn't working out well for you, and that it's aggravating your health. Hopefully, they'll take your feedback here, at least, under advisement. In the meantime, if it's an option, is it possible for you to create a thumbnail for the pages of your favourite games on your browser home page/Speed Dial? I use Chrome and Opera, primarily, and I find this works quite well.
  18. In response to post #73638943. "Why am I not surprised that another bad design update was pushed without ACTUALLY consulting users?" ~~~ I'm no defender of this site, and have my own concerns with some of the directions it has went in, and appears to be going in. However, in this particular instance I really have to wonder if (a) we are viewing the same Nexus, because I actually find the new design far more efficient, and (b) whether you bothered to respond to the survey....where you would have had the chance to provide your user input.

And trust me, in a wholly different context I've been known to practically skin people alive for not using adequate referencing. In this situation, however, I have my reasons. *shrug*
  20. In response to post #72260498. #72302373, #72304623, #72304753 are all replies on the same post. I'd actually prefer not to. Suffice to say, it was highly credible source, and I'm inclined to believe it. I realise that doesn't exactly back up my "case," but that's OK, because I'm not really trying to make one.
  21. In response to post #72260498. #72304623 is also a reply to the same post. I don't understand why there needs to be an argument over it either. For me, it's quite simple; I don't use Vortex, and I never will. I'm still sticking with the tried and true... I install with Wrye Bash, do an initial pass with LOOT, and then tweak manually in Wrye Bash... wonderful, simple and intuitive. In all the years I've used it, Wrye Mash/Bash/Smash/Flash has never failed me. Even the LOOT devs recommend AGAINST using the system the way Vortex does. LOOT should be regarded like a spelling, or grammar, checker.. It's great for a first pass to fix the most egregious problems, but it STILL needs a human hand..... One that has actually learnt how to build a load order, rather than relying on automation. I've actually tried Vortex a couple of times now (and having modded Beth games since Morrowind, I KNOW what I'm doing by this point).... Just, no thanks. No doubt Vortex is great for some people, but I'm not one of them. I want full control over the install process, and that includes being able to easily drag and drop mods. Do note, I am neither "crying" nor "arguing" here. I don't care if people want to use Vortex, their game, their problem. I simply have no plans to use it personally, and I'm glad we have the choice.
  22. I don't know how to mod.. but I actually use Relationship Dialogue Overhaul rather than FCO, and that has followers often addressing your character as "friend." I generally find RDO the better of the two anyway, since it also, very effectively, eliminates excessive repetition, and the follower commentary is quite location-sensitive.
  23. In response to post #64513911. #64514896 is also a reply to the same post. "we'll have TES:VI by then" ~~~ First of all, I wouldn't want to bet on that. Secondly, so what? The Tamriel Rebuilt Team is still, after all these years, continuing work on their project.. and guess what? People are *STILL* playing, and modding Morrowind. In fact, the Morrowind modding scene is very active, especially considering the age of the game. What's to say that the same won't apply to Skyrim and the "Beyond Skyrim" project? Thirdly, as is the case with Bethesda games in general, once it's even released, it will take at least a year before various patches and mods have begun to address whatever shortcomings TES VI has.... making Skyrim the more viable option for all kinds of people. Not to mention, there's no reason you can't play games concurrently; I switch between Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim on a regular basis.
