Skyrim Minor Overhaul Suggestion Part I : Vampire Lord

A complete overhaul idea , for a minor gameplay element for Skyrim . Number values , below , can be adjusted to your own leisure if you wish to work on this , and think that they are unsatisfying . The perks , also , isn't necessary to be put left or right , it's just they're more distinguishable that way , from my point of view . So , here i comes . Hope it interests you enough .

 

Left Side Sub Tree: ( 3 perks )

A Melee Focused small , sub tree

I) Night Stalker : A permanent increase by 2% , while in Vampire Lord form . Also , adds a 10 % passive critical hit chance , from now on . That's more , If '' Blood Healing '' perk is on , a power bite fully restores the Vampire Lord's stamina as well . ( '' Night Cloak '' perk's required )

 

II) Unholy Wrath : A Night Power , which sends the Vampire Lord , upon activation , into a berserking state : His base attack speed is increased by 20% , and his melee strikes deal 5 more damage , with each consecutive hit on a single target . . The duration's set to 10seconds , the cooldown around 3 , real - world time , minutes ( 180 seconds ) ( Requires '' Night Stalker '' perk )

 

III) Daedric Strength : Adds a chance of knockin down ( not knockin back , but it's fine if knockdown's impossible . Just don't make it as the werewolve's knocking back distance but smaller ) an enemy , when executing a power attack of 12% , separate from Night Stalker's critical chance , if possible ( Requires '' Unholy Wrath '' )

 

Right Side Tree : ( 3 perks , as well )

A magical skills , expansion sub tree

I) A Kiss Of Death : The Vampire Lord , spits a magic - influenced , poisonous projectile on a single target . If it makes contact it spreads on its blood system , corrupting it and causing 10 disease damage over 5 seconds , on him . If the target's hit by the Drain Life spell , the magical disease thrives and looks for a new victim to spread , causing a contagion . ( '' Corpse Curse '' perk needed )

 

II) Disease Carrier : The Vampire Lord's '' Raise Dead '' summon , when this spell's cast , carries forth another magical disease . This one , when contracted by a victim , cause it to lose 10% - 15% of his initial magic resistance ( Requires '' A Kiss Of Death '' perk )

 

III) Carrion Swarm : The Vampire Lord's send forth . a hungry for blood , swarm of bats . The swarm , upon contact , with an enemy , stays on him and the rest carries on in a total of 150-200 radius ( depends on you ) to do the same . ( much like Frost Breath ice encase ) The unfortunate victim , stays immobilized in place for 6 secs and suffers 7 magic damage per seconds from the swarm's assault , leaving him in the Vampire Lord's mercy . ( Requires '' Disease Carrier '' perk ) .

 

Gaining New Powers And Blessings From Molag Bal :

Whether you choose to support the Dawnguard or the Volkihar clan , you'll eventually have the option to become a Vampire Lord , thanks to Serana . And since in both cases , you can inform Valerica for her safe return back in Tamriel , I thought that some lore vampiric expansion could be put in place , so long's not too lenghty . With that in mind , here's my propose :

 

When certain perks are chosen ( or all of them eventually , if you wish a multi purposed Vampire Lord ) , speaking with Valerica in Castle Volkihar , will grant to you information about a small Molag Bal's shrine , hidden somewhere in Skyrim , still acting as a conduit for his blessings to its superb followers .

Those blessings and powers , will mirror your Vampire Lord playstyle , and help to expand your arsenal , in each case :

I) For a melee focused Vampire Lord , the shrine will offer a choice between a Lesser Power or a blessing , or both , at some expense , of course :

 

1) Lesser Power : '' Tear Apart ''

A dash and one - hit KO to a targeted enemy , upon activation , with an immediate power bite ( 300 seconds , real world time cooldown )

 

2) Blessing : Your '' Poison Talons '' , damage over time effect , increases by +2 dmg per sec .

 

Keeping 'em both , would result in a straight stamina decrease , negating '' Night Stalker'' 's fullest effects , since your stamina regen won't matter much if there's no noticable stamina pool to regen … Also , the '' Daedric Strength '' effect goes to hell as well , since less stamina , means less power attacks , means lesser chance for the effect to trigger .

 

II) For A Spell - Based Vampire Lord , 2 Lesser Powers will be offered ( new spells to a caster , sounds somehow … )

1) ''Mass Call'' - 3 Bonemen , 1 Mistman , 1 Wrathman are called forth from the Soul Cairn to aid you in battle , for 120 seconds or till they die . 600 , real world time , seconds cooldown .

2) '' Spread Wings '' : Your Gargoyle summon . gets transformed into an improved version ( level dependant and according to the game's Gargoyle variatiom species ) and jumps into the fray , next to the Vampire Lord . It's also immune to your Drain Life AOE damage , but holds out half a minute less than its normal counterpart . ( 150 seconds cooldown )

 

Having'em both , is something I still work on , won't be long till it's done .

 

III) For a multi - purposed Vampire Lord ( all perks filled ) , a blessing's more than enough , I think . Otherwise It wouldn't be much distinction , I think , between the fighting styles :

 

1) Blessing : Your '' Night Cloak'' perk , gives you a passive 10% dodge chance , while active .

 

Simple thing , I think . A Multi - purposed Vampire Lord will get a blessing in the end , but due to its variety of attacks it doesn't need to be buffed up more than intended , eh ?

 

Now , those buffs and powers , can be changed every 24 hours , BUT when you choose to do so , your choice will be limited in a single category still . It wouldn't do to mix 'em and make you overpowered ! That's not my goal , after all . The Vampire Lord's gaming experience to be elevated , is .

Making the Vampire Lord , vital to your gameplay :

One final note : When a Vampire Lord kills with Life Drain or a power bite , it feeds on its victims life force . literally : its blood . My final suggestion , to expand the form's usability , even after the tree's fulfillment , is to count said kills as normal Vampire feedings as well .

In the modern mod community ( after DOTA' groundbreaking success , many things changed , I do not deny it ) , mod compatibilities is a frequent question and demand . Having as many mods compatible as possible , means to a player , that many of his favourite mods ( he can't have a single one , I guess ) , won't clash and delivering a sense of satisfaction from the whole package .

So , if by any chance , some one has any of the '' Better Vampires '' , '' Vampire Overhaul '' or '' Belua Sanguinare Revisited '' mods on , will grin ominously , realising that he can reach now the highest vampiric ranks , avoiding a lenghty or boring feed grinding . Simply , by utilizing , Molag Bal's ultimate , kingly gift , and hearking in to it , he gets to join the vampire community's higher echelon's relatively easier . He's the f***in' Dragonborn , after all , not some shithead low life ! Also , utilizing , for example , some particular options from '' Better Vampires '' mod , the Vampire Lord , could aid to human form's strength elevation via perk points producing , after becoming a Praetorian … a compatibility patch also , wouldn't be a bad idea , if needed . The authors of those mods have done so or allowed to do so , in some cases , I doubt they would have a problem to support such a connection , again . I think …

To close this topic , allow two final comments . This idea was born , after 1000 hours of playing Skyrim , the 600 of which as Vampire . ( The Elder Scrolls vampire version's more attractive than '' Twilight's '' anyway ... ) and after some extensive mod testings . namely , '' Royal Bloodline '' , '' True Vampire Lord '' and so on . This Drain Life bombard fest , this simple ''fill the perk tree and then that's it'' policy annoyed me greatly , after a while . Transformations in the Elder Scrolls universe is a part of the main character , they live on with him , they act as his alter ego : they're vital to his life course as it unfolds . They're not meant , I think , to be something common . Boring . With this in mind , I tried my best to form this and don't allow your selfs to be mistaken : it was a hard thing to form , having to consider the community's and mine , personal reaction to such work .

Well , I think it turned out pretty well as an idea , a detailed one on its concept at least , so there's little room for misunderstandings or frustrating recalculations from the modder's side . I do not know , if it's able to materialize in its entirety as a mod , though I tried also a lot to keep it as easier to happen as I can ( not sure , how that did turn out though ) . But , still , even if a fraction of it is to materialize it's still fine by me .

If you're looking to work on this , there's no need for Valerica to invite Dragonborn , in Castle Volkihar for a personal conversation . That would require dialogue , and subtitles work and the like , increasing by some bit the whole package's complexity . A letter via courier is enough . Also the shrine's provided blessings and powers , should be a unique choice : either choose one or the other . No need to work the case of having them both and result in a penalty . Another piece of thank less work .

And finally , about the mod's compatability : it's to your discretion that one , should you choose to work on this . Asking of such a thing is quite selfish and irrelevant from my part in the end .

Another mod idea , regarding the Thieves Guild storyline expanded is on its way , which , I hope , you'll like even more . Cheers , till then ;)
