skinnynerd
I was wondering how you can change the color, font weight, etc. of descriptions for files. Unnecessary Violence is a good example.
bben46
It's done using bbcode. Here is a link to a simple explanation of how to do it: http://www.phpbb.com/community/faq.php?mode=bbcode Just don't go overboard using it as overuse of certain functions can make your description harder to read. For example if everything is HUGE and in different colors.
LHammonds
Not all BBCode works though. You cannot control font size but you can control the following: Description - BBCodeBold - BUnderline - UColor - COLORImage - IMGYouTube Video - YOUTUBELink - URL Examples: [b]I am bold[/b] [u]Underline me[/u] [color=#33ff33]I am green[/color] [img=http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/12815-1190685952.jpg] [youtube]thhE70Quu-A[/youtube] [url=http://lhammonds.game-host.org/obmm/]My Web Site[/url] Important items to note: Although the forums will take the URL value surrounded by quotes or without, the Nexus description does not like the URL value surrounded by quotes. The YouTube tag only needs the value of the URL after the "v=" and not the entire URL. Just the movie ID. It should also be noted that you can attach videos (in the video tab) but that feature requires the entire URL. Example: See Lost Paladins of the Divines.Use the IMG tag sparingly since you have access to upload images in the Image tab.One thing I do for creating descriptions is to start creating a post (and never submit it) and then use the preview to see what it will look like and the BBCode toolbar. But I always have to remember to remove the quotes around any URL values if I do it this way. When done, I select all the text (CTRL + A), copy (CTRL + C) and then paste (CTRL + V) it into the file description.
skinnynerd
Thanks. Maybe someone should write an article on this? (Does anybody ever look at them anyway?)

skinnynerd
Yeah, I'm kinda new, but I'll write the article. EDIT: Also, Is it OK if I reference U.V.? EDIT AGAIN: Is there anyway to do code (pre) tags in TESNexus?
LHammonds
Is there anyway to do code (pre) tags in TESNexus? Are you referring to the CODE tags like the example I gave above? Click the reply button on my example post and you can see how I did the BBCode in the quoted text. I cannot remember if that works in articles / descriptions but you can easily find out by trial-n-error. LHammonds
LHammonds
I noticed you were trying to figure it out and the CODE tags were not working so well on the Nexus descriptions. I updated your tutorial with a format I think people will understand a bit better. Check it out and let me know if you like it. Here is a copy for reference: This article is about using BBCode to format file descriptions and articles. Using BBCode tags you can change: Note: Due to limitations in the way TESNexus handles code in the descriptions, the tags cannot be shown as the should be. All Syntax code has an extra space before and after the code. The actual code has no spaces between the brackets. skinnynerd
I like it. I'll just finish it up with some notes, lists, and font faces. LHammonds
I am fairly certain that font faces and size do not work in Nexus descriptions...although they do work in the forums. LHammonds
