Can anyone tell me if there are any mods out there that gives it a kinda PC RPG looking inventory menu that doesn't look like a lazy console port?

I got a new laptop and I Just bought Skyrim for PC. Whooops. Skyrim looks like a half assed console port. Every time I open a menu or inventory it just ruins my immersion and reminds me I'm playing a video game.

Please help!

Sky UI

First page of the all time top files on skyrim nexus, which should be first port of call for mods to catch your eye. Its worth giving skyrim one unmodded playthrough first, so you know what you'd want to change, but yeah, the UI is horrible so Sky UI is a must, also have a look at Immersve HUD

To be perfectly honest, if you can't play vanilla, I don't think modding is worth the effort. I'd just find a game more suited to your tastes. Edit: but as others have said, SkyUI will help with the menus. Not much, but some. I think it's the most popular mod on the nexus, out of every game.

As far as I can tell, though, every f***ing game is a console port these days. It's awful, and I think I need to stop buying new games until companies pull their collective head out of their ass.

I might like the underlying game that is Skyrim; I loved morrowind and I'm hoping it's as enjoyable as that is. I just can't stand modern console games and the cable TV looking menu I have to deal with for the inventory screams console, and is immersion breaking. It reminds me that I am in fact playing a video game, and not in fact running around in Skyrim. I can definitely understand why SkyUI is the most downloaded mod.

Don't listen to that guy, I personally hate Vanilla Skyrim and yet I spent tons of hours in modded skyrim. You just need to spend a considerable amount of time modding it to remove the console status.

Check step guide: http://wiki.step-project.com/Main_Page

Check Skyrim Gems: http://www.skyrimgems.com/

Good luck.

It wasn't intended to be mean, just honest. Heavily modding a game just to make it playable doesn't sound worth it to me. I heavily mod skyrim for replayability, but I had a blast in vanilla. Other games where I don't like the base game, I just move on, heavily modding a game is time consuming.

On the other hand, it sounds like your issue really is just the interface. There are certainly a number of mods for that. You might also want better message box controls, for ease of navigation.

Well said. I don't agree that the UI could make any game "horrible." I've never had a problem with the ui, on console or on the PC, although I do use and enjoy SkyUI.

For mods, there's SPERG which provides some exciting changes to the perk system, while for more realistic animals I reccomend Realistic animals and predators(I believe thats what it was called, it's on the Nexus as well).
