SCORPION2000
Hi all! Is there a way to make the shadows and lightning in Oblivion better like in the old E3 Demo(i think thy removed them to get better performance)I know how to get the reflections in water by edit the .ini file and so on. so any body know how to get more and better shadows by edit some value in the .ini file or a mod? If you haven't seen the old Demo from E3 or can't remember what shadows i'm talking about you can download it from my webpage:Old Oblivion E3 Demo <---Right click and chose "save as" NOTE! The shadows and lightning i talking about is at the begining of the video(Witch by the way its 20min long). Thanks for any help! /SCORPION2000
thePhilanthropy
maybe these .ini settings work. Use at own risk. iShadowMapResolution=1024Determines how sharp/filtered the shadows are.1024 is default I think, and I don't know whether it goes higher. Try setting it to 2048 or 4096 and see whether your game crashes. iActorShadowIntMax=10iActorShadowExtMax=10Determines the number of shadows for actors in interiors/exteriors. 10 is the vanilla in-game maximum. Set it higher, like 20 or 30. iCanopyShadowScale=512Determins quality of tree shadows. Set it to 1024 or 2048. set Shadows on Grass to ON in-game. that's about it for shadows, I guess. and check out this page:http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_1.html maybe you find more there. cacophany
I think the default resoloution for the shadows is 512. I believe the Unnoficial Oblivion update raises it. Follow the above advice and also try raising: 'iShadowFilter=2' to a higher number like 4. Make sure to enable threading throughout the ini file to increase performance too. Too many shadows will make your frame rates drop, even if you have a high end gaming computer. Oblivion just wasn't meant to be played like that.
