Rockdude3
Sorry if this topic has already been brought up, but I was just quick-asking. The only reason it might have an exception is because it's from the same company and on the same engine. So can I port textures and models from the vanilla game (legally)? Thanks in advance

Riven1978
Beth does not want their Ob resources used in Fallout 3. So no it wouldn't be legal Ok this question comes up alot, and seeing as how i have done a lot of research on the porting of things from OB :P (see sig below for things i have gotten over) There is a fine line of what you can and cannot do regarding porting over. The fast answer would be anything created BY Bethesda is a no-no for crossover (that includes retextures and models where less then i think it was 85% of it is from the vanilla), anything created BY Modders from square one IS allowed to be ported over providing you have the permissions for it.Some models you will find are just slightly altered vanilla meshes ( I had to remove some stuff from one of my mods because of this) these fall in line with Vanilla Models because they are less then 85% (again correct me if i got my numbers messed up >.<) changed. The same thing is true no matter what game you are porting over, First make sure it is more the 85% different from the original model (or an original model itself), Obtain the permissions to do the port over (some people do either do not answer or do not play the game any longer and you cannot reach them. For this, there is somewhat of an unwritten "Law of the masses" that you should wait at least 2 weeks of trying to get in touch with the person; after which if they have still not answered you are free to do what you want (just be aware that if that person comes back and does not approve that you will need to remove such mod straight away) I believe that should about cover the topic and maybe next time when someone does a search for it they can find all the info they need in one post :P
