Until recently, Fallout New Vegas was working with no problem. However, starting today, the game freezes at the start screen ( graphic of man in power armor with a casino sign in the background). The only way out is with the task manager which lists Fallout New Vegas and "Error" running. The problem details were listed as the following:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Application Name: FalloutNV.exe

Application Timestamp: 4e0d50ed

Fault Module Name: nvac.dll

The following was also listed in the log from New Vegas Anti Crash:

20133322 _ NewVegasAntiCrash FalloutNV.exe
20133322 _ 03520000 06000000 nvac.dll
20133322 _ 0C600000 04020020 nvse_1_4.dll
20133323 e 0046158A C0000005 FalloutNV.exe
20133323 ! _MISSING _MASTER_ FalloutNV.exe
20133411 V 03522F40 80000003 nvac.dll
20133411 u 03522F40 80000003 nvac.dll

Under Regedit. The location of the falloutnv files are :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432 Node\ Bethesda Software \falloutnv

(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)

installed path REG_SZ C:\Program Files (x86) \Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\

The "missing" FalloutNV.exe is in the correct folder but not apparently being recognized. Does anyone have any idea on how to correct this, or do I need to completely uninstall, download from Steam and then put the mods, etc back in? Any help would be appreciated.

Log into steam and let it reverify your game files (right click on FNV, go down to properties, select verify game files). It will detect the messed up master and automatically replace it.

Thanks. Tried the file check on steam but got no results. The author for New Vegas Anti Crash suggested it was a problem with a mod. A quick check in FNVEdit by loading all files found an esp file that was corrupted during an upgrade.
