RetiredMike
Hello, I am an oldie (82yrs) newbie that has just switched over from game consoles to a computer. I am not a modder, just a mod user. Unless I'm missing something, for Starfield, Vortex is basically just a “downloader”, and the user has to manually install the files. The mod installation instructions are written for an experienced user (as they should be) and are difficult for me to understand. When something doesn't work, I don’t know how to resolve the problem. I cannot get the “SFSE Save Unfinished Ships (No ship limits)” mod to work. The installation instructions are: Install SFSE & Drop the .dll file into <game directory>\Data\SFSE\Plugins and toggle the F6 key to turn the function on and off. The SFSE mod was already installed, and I put the SFSE-Save-Unfinished-Ships.dll (2.63MB, Sync pending) file into the Plugins folder; however, when I press the F6 key I still cannot save the ship changes. I am beginning to think that the “F” stands for something other than function. Has anyone else had trouble with this mod? Is the file being marked “Availability: Sync pending” a problem? Please help! HeyYou
Hhhhmmm.... Apparently, it *should* be working. Have a look at the log file located in My Documents\My Games\Starfield\SFSE\logs. I think its the SFSE loader text file.... It should mention in there if it loaded properly or not. But yes, F6 should be the function key at the top of your keyboard. It's *possible* that you also have to push the "FN" key in combination with it.
RetiredMike
HeyYou, Thanks for your input. I looked at the log and didn't find any references to this mod. After further investigation I found a file that needed to be unzipped and that McAfee had quarantined the mods application file. Decided to completely remove the mod from vortex, temporarily turn off McAfee real time scanning and reinstall the mod. Hopefully, this will fix it. Thanks again for your help. HeyYou
In all reality, you don't need Mcafee if you are running windows 10, or 11.... Windows Defender, and a good adblocker is more than adequate to the task. Fewer problems that way too.
