My character stays on the default appearance of the race I'm playing

Since some time I keep having this issue with my character staying in the default appearance of the race I'm playing. But If I go in the mirror or respec, it shows my customized character. Hitting confirm in the mirror doesn't change it at all outside of it. The only way I fixed it before was by loading an old save from an old campaign then loading the new one again. But it doesn't always work and I have to keep doing it.

I have no idea what mod could be causing this. The only one I can think of is Appearance Edit Enhanced, but I had used it a few times just fine. However when I'm having this bug and I try to use it again, it doesn't work properly and just creates a new character outside the map. I haven't tried removing this mod cause I'm kinda scared it could ruin my save files. I also have 2 races mods (Aasimar and Witch Elf) I tried both on my current save. Sadly when I try to remove them it just crashes my game when I try to load the save. When I temporarily fixed the issue I used Appearance Edit again and changed my race to a vanilla one to see if it would stop happening but nope.

I'm not sure what to do so just wondering if anyone ever had this issue and has any solution.

Edit: I tried removing Appearance Edit, did nothing. Character still bugged.

You could try this and uninstall all your mods ... and install them anew (later) again. Never done it, not sure if it works. I would backup all your savegame files manually.

Also I have this information, don't know if it helps you:

Method given by tyizzadyhe on the comment page of Stronger Bosses and enemies (who found the workaround on reddit) = all credit for him .

1. Load the save you want to play. Restore any missing mods if needed, if you get the "Different Mod Settings" pop-up, you won't be able to load the save.
2. Save, then close the game (this ensures this file is your most recent save. If the save you want is already the most recent, you can skip steps 1 & 2)
3. In BGMM, remove the mod(s) you want to get rid of. (In this case, you're removing the old version of StrongerBosses and replacing it with the Uninstall version of the mod)
4. In BGMM go to "Settings" >> "Open Preferences" >> "Advanced Tab"
5. In the text box next to "Launch Params" type "-continueGame"
6. Save settings.
7. Launch the game through BGMM Go >> Launch Game (Ctrl + Shift + G also works. Make sure your Game Executable Path in BGMM settings is correct.)
8. This will boot you directly into your most recent save, bypassing the Main Menu and the currently bugged "Missing Mods" dialogue window.
9. Once in game, save. This will save your current mod loadout and allow you to load through the Main Menu next time, as normal.
