Ophiucus68
Suddenly after 300 hours in a current game, I couldn't fast travel to Sanctuary Hills without a CTD but I could travel to any other map location. So I decided to walk there. CTD outside of Red Rocket. The cell seems corrupted. No new mods installed but I disabled them all. No change. Checked integrity of files via steam. No problems. Started new game. Entered Sanctuary without a problem. What gives?
subaverage
Do you have older saves where you can make tests with? Starting a new game even with mods disabled still that you are already in Sanctuary and it works. So maybe you can play until you leave Vault111 for the first time with all mods disabled. Go to somewhere far away and make a save. Load the save and fast travel to Sanctuary. If everything works right go away again. Make a new save. Quit your game, reenable your mods one by one and load the previous save from far out of Sanctuary. Fast travel and see what happens. LarannKiar
Could be caused by something that was spawned/edited during the game at Sanctuary in a way the EXE can't handle. You can try Buffout 4's built-in crash logger but it may not point to a mod.. Do you have any custom settlement objects at Sanctuary? If so, it might worth checking their comment pages, see if someone else already reported it. Edited February 9 by LarannKiar

All saves had the same CTD in the Sanctuary cell. So I figured not a corrupt save but an ini file somewhere had a corrupted script because a new game with all mods installed, no problem. 3000+ hours of previous play swapping mods in and out, no problem. It happened in just this one game, 300 hrs into it. I'd like to know why.

I wondered that too and figured disabling mods would reset to vanilla settings for the cell anyway but still CTD

If you can fast travel to and out of Santuary with all mods installed in a new game and the fact that the problem occured suddenly can mean that your savegames are corrupted. Even older ones. Maybe this happens because of something you had built in the past. Or you srapped or deleted something the game needs to load. The precombines of the cells might be heavily damaged. I could imagine that this can cause ctds, too. In this case you could try this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46403?tab=files I would recommend to make a copy of your entire Fallout 4 folder before trying. Ophiucus68
maybe And yes, I have a copy of the FO4 folder. Learned that early on with modding
Ophiucus68
I've come to the conclusion that the cell became corrupted and took a few hours of gameplay to exhibit the CTD. The only thing I did different from other games was to collect all the power armour. I'm wondering of I simply hit too many objects of that type. Thanks for the input everybody. niston
Sounds like Scrap Crash, tbh. I've also seen such CTD happen after building a CWSS shower station in Sanctuary. The reason there was a specific texture with invalid dimensions (2000x2000 IIRC).
shieldandsword
The author has released a new version of CWSS Redux v4.011, about which he wrote that the CTDs called by the mod have been fixed. Link (the author himself provided the players). Of course, with the prohibition of posting a mod with design on nexusmods!
