CoGDork
I keep hearing a kind of metallic clanking sound that repeats over and over again, but there's apparently no source. Anyone else having this problem? What's going on, and how can I fix it?
Lord Garon
Do any of your kids have a fox for a pet? I have this too and it seemed to start when Lucia found that little fox.
MissLys
Hi! I am having the same problem. Although I think I know what is causing it, I have no clue how to fix it. Here's the results of my research/poking around: I have a positioning program (fabulous, Jaxonz Positioner) that recently went through an update. The readme file explained that with the new tools at my command, I'd need to be careful because there was now the ability to accidentally (or on purpose) move a wall. Well, of course, I saw the new design options available for Lakeview and went about trying to grab a wall to copy and move so I could set aside a somewhat enclosed sleeping area in the small house setup. Why I want to keep to the small house would take some time to explain. Anyway... I'd always heard this sound in Lakeview (I rarely use the other two build-your-own options so never really noticed), but I always equated the sound to the action of watching planters from another mod (Little Baron's Interior Decorating) fall onto the floor or each other or whatever - metallic type planters all, the sound went perfectly with the actions. Every store I entered that sells these planters and every house or other building where the author of the program placed the planters would have the same sound until I removed excess planters. SO...how did these two things come together? Here I am in the little house layout, hearing the sound, yet I've already dutifully picked up the, what I thought to be, offending planters that had automatically spawned when I placed furniture in the home via the workbench... Now let's go back to my nifty idea for extra walls and some sleeping privacy, shall we? I walk up to the back wall from inside the home - the wall that would become the entry doors to the main hall were I to expand - and I click on the wall with my positioning tool, hoping to figure out how to grab it. Since the new version of my positioner doesn't always highlight the item even if it has grabbed it (no clue why not), I give it a couple of pulls, hoping that I'd grabbed the wall. What happens? I end up pulling a horn light out of the wall...exactly positioned where the two horn lights would be once I converted the room to an entryway! Well, being the inquisitive person I am, I tried again after cancelling out the first attempt. This time I pulled one of the two small round tables that would be in a future transition of the room becoming an entryway. Uh...yeah...LIGHTBULB! Granted, folks who actually make mods might have known of this interesting little storage fact that is used to transition the build houses from one phase to another - I'd always assumed an underground chest as is used for the various stores in the game - but I'd never known. I just knew that when I'd built Lakeview (again, no clue if the other two houses do it as well), there was always an annoying sound until I expanded to the main hall and picked up those offending planters. Well... I clicked all over the wall panels at the back and finally started pulling out planters, confirming that they were waiting in the house already, like the other furnishings, to be dropped into the main hall or remodeled entryway when needed. Ssssssooooooo... My theory is that it is either the Little Baron's mod in particular or, more likely, any metallic item such as the candlesticks or jugs from the main hall dining table bumping around in the walls. Since my little research showed that all the various items were there awaiting future use, I think it is more of a flaw in the audio. Then I thought about the VERY little I knew about the collision properties in the game - being similar to others I've played - and realized that the sound, while seeming to always combine with the aforementioned planters, was not caused by the planters themselves...it was the collision sound from the game! Havok, I think it is called? Anyway, plates and cups falling off of shelves make the same sound, so it was then apparent that it wasn't mod related...so far as I could tell, at least. No... Rather it is the collision of things bumping around in the walls because said items are stored there and we haven't fully built out to them yet. It is a glitch, it seems, in the audio that accompanies the collision action and, for whatever, reason, that audio file is reacting to something in the wall. No clue how to fix it (yet) but I believe the offending item(s) or audio snippet to be in that back main wall panel since the sound is less pronounced when standing closer to the front door of the small layout. I am hoping to find a fix because I want to keep the small layout because of the parameters I am trying to play under with my current character. If anyone happens to read this and might be able to help or point folks in the right direction, I, for one, would be much obliged! Thanks!!!
