Disable Long Rests until checkpoints

I think it would be fun to not have access to long rests all of the time. Perhaps only making them available after certain milestones. E.g.: after dealing with Ethel in Act1 (dead or otherwise)  a prompt appears letting you know that long resting becomes available until you leave the area. Just spit balling here and would love to hear other people's thoughts or if it's even possible.
