Intel Texture Works not creating/saving alpha channel?

Recommended Posts

I recently came back to modding Skyrim and found out about Intel Texture Works to save files as BC5, BC7 for SE

The thing is, I don't know why, the plugin does NOT  save or create any alpha channel on saving any files, I tried every type of DDS available on the plugin just to check and none works on that matter, I searched everywhere for an answer but couldn't find anything.

I am using Photoshop CC 2015 64Bit on a Windows 11

Thank you

The question #1 - does your photoshop file actually have an alpha channel?   For Skyrim textures, alpha on the diffuse controls transparency (and in some cases, texture-based animation), while alpha on the normal map controls specular.

Now, I don't use Intel Texture Works, I use  Nvidia Texture Tools Exporter plugin, but you kinda have to have an Nvidia video card to use it.

And if you look at top right corner, it gives option to export either color channels, or just alpha, or both.    I would imagine Intel texture tools should offer a similar option.

I did create alpha channels and everything, the plugin would simply delete the thing to oblivion for whatever reason.

I will try this new(?) version of Nvidia Texture Tools, thank you for the reply
