RangerBoyd
After this last major update, my Fallout 4 Kit developed this problem ... Any attempt to use the landscaping tool, whether to apply new textures, or to adjust terrain, has the same result. The Cell goes dark, as if you tried to add too many textures, not just that quad, but the whole cell. All grasses are gone, and only the base textures are left in this very dark form... I had this same problem with the Skyrim SE Kit After recent massive update as well but came up with a work around. This involves saving, shutting down, and re-starting the CK, which works most of the time. However, this has not been the case with the fallout 4 Kit... This is obviously due to the new and improved textures, but I haven't got a clue as to why. I have verified the integrity of both Game and Kit files, all good there. Running Windows 10 if that helps... I'm not very tech savvy, all I know is related to the kits... Sure hope someone else has seen this problem and can point me to a fix. At this time, the only thing I'm comfortable doing is placing Objects.
F4llfield
I have the same problem. Did you find a fix ?
zhulikkulik
Just use smooth/landscape brush to move the landscape a bit then try to paint again. Sometimes replacing the texture in the entire cell will also work. Play with it, try starting from an unbugged cell in or from the bugged cell out, try rotating camera to either make the bug visible 100% or to make it almost invisible in a viewport. Try having mostly unbugged area in the frame or zoom in on the black cell so that only a bit of surrounding area is visible near edges. Eventually you'll fix it. I have no idea what exactly causes it, but this is the only way to fix it. Edited June 10, 2024 by zhulikkulik

RangerBoyd
Thanks for info, if I ever get my kit and game to start after my last unsuccessful attempt at a repair, will give it a try.

The only new functionality the CK gained was the ability to upload the latest archive version to Bethesda.net. So absent that or the need to edit the updated content, you don't need the latest version to do anything else.
