blackhand8657
Ok, I've had this problem for quite a while (well before the latest Next Gen update). I like to make my own personal mods and sometimes I'll use assets from other mods to do so (for personal use only, not releasing anything). I have issues with the modded meshes and textures with Creation Kit and NifSkope. Also, some custom meshes or textures cause the game to crash as well and again, I don't know why. Creation Kit Issue: Crashes when I try to load some meshes, not all, from mods. I don't understand why some crash CK and some don't. For example, I DL'ed Cerruti's Army pack. I try to use the models of certain vehicles and with some, not all, when I try to load them in CK it crashes. NifSkope: Despite having the textures, meshes, material files in the proper locations and NifSkope set up to look in the right directories it still gives me the error: "One or more textures failed to load. <model file.dds> is corrupt or unsupported. If anyone can help me understand why this is happening and what I can do to fix this, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you
pepperman35
A few things come to mind: 1) the poly count of the meshes; 2) dimensions of the texture files; and 3) the format of the texture files. It is possible that the poly count on these models is far too high for FO4. It is possible that the texture files are improperly sized (i.e., typical sizes look like 2048 x 2048, 1024 x 1024, 512 x 512, etc). The compression for the texture files could be incorrect or missed up. The texture set typically consists of three files ( model_file_d.dds, model_file_n.dds, and model_file_s.dds). I will leave it to you to research these and the proper compression.

How come other people can get it to work in their game but I can't? I want to research into this but not sure where to start
