JimboG81
"A witty saying proves nothing"- Voltaire. See I can do it too. Everything on Nexus being free is irrelevant. Imagine if someone gave you a coffee table and it only had two legs instead of four. They explain to you that they didnt have time to finish it but you could still have it. What would be the point? My point, and its a big flashing one that people keep somehow missing, is that if you are going to start a project, make sure you have enough time and resources to get it done, if you dont, hand it off to someone who can finish the job. What is happening sadly, is people are starting projects then real life gets in the way and sadly because they have permissions turned off, nobody is allowed to merge, or take over the mod. So its just sits their unfinished forever. Someone else now has to start a brand new version from scratch rather than picking up where the other person left off. Its a waste. I cant fix something if im not allowed to use the assets can I? Think McFly Think!
ChuckYufarley
Let me get this straight. It is incumbent on all mod authors to provide the user with the type and quality of game modification of which the user must have final approval? I must have missed that in the Nexus TOS. Free is hardly irrelevant. But I would guess arguing that point with someone who's given out a grand total of one endorsement in nearly eight years would be an effort in futility. BTW, you're free to modify anything you download, for your own personal use. You just cannot turn around and share your results on Nexus without consent from the original mod's author. Think of those incomplete, incompatible, or otherwise broken free mods as a type of modder's resource. How fortunate for you that someone else put in the time and effort to create a nearly complete, free mod for you to add the finishing touches to.
nzukowski
A mod that is not updated or incomplete or unfinished may not be of any use to you, but other folks may find them to be quite useful for various reasons (many mod users are quite knowledgeable/skilled and don't mind fixing/tweaking or updating mods for their own personal use). You having to spend a couple of extra minutes to search through Nexus results is not a burden onerous enough to justify eliminating everyone's access to these mods.
