honeybreadloaf
Hey all, apologies if I'm beating a dead horse with a stick, especially with a game as old as Dragon Age Origins, but I just revitalized the game on my computer and have only ever played vanilla (since I only played it on the console version before). I reeeeeally wanted to try this game on my computer and use mods since I started successfully using mods for other games like rimworld and stardewvalley. Thing is, most of these really cool cosmetics and hairstyles ONLY come with the dreaded, pain in the butt, chargenmorph files. I'm completely new to mods, so it took me forever and a day to realize that I couldn't simply just dump all the extracted apps in the override folder - which at first I had trouble finding because I didn't realize I had to make it myself. Hah! After about a day and some, I was excited I had made some progress successfully installing dazip files in the DAupdater/DAmodmanager app and having it show up in my game (que confetti), but the chargenmorph has me completely stumped. "more hairstyles" mod was the only cosmetic mod I've been using because that was the only one I could successfully install on damodmanager, HOWEVER my game has been so buggy and crashy. It got so bad that after a while, I had to save an old autosave, load from that old save, and while in game, load into my main save which would immediately crash if I did it directly from the main screen. Every 10 minutes or so after loading into my main save, it would crash again, thus having me start the process over. I eventually deleted the save to try redownloading the mods and the game itself. The apps that I have installed include: Dahlialynn's sleep until dawn, Coraline's commodities part 1, No Helmet Hack 1.6, Romance Bench, Extra dog slot v1.14. I had a few others as well but took them out thinking there might've been a bad file or that it was too much for the game to handle. I'm not even daring to download the 4gb updater for the game again, because last time I did that, it wouldn't even let me launch the game. However even taking out some of the other apps still didn't work, and starting a new game I saw a lot of the same glitches and crashes pop back up. I fear the culprit may be the "more hairstyles" mod, which makes me incredibly sad because the vanilla cosmetics are so blah. Wanting to try again downloading the mod (and some others) a different way, I did some more research on the chargenmorph compiler app and successfully made my own .xml and removing bad data. I put that in the override folder with the rest of the non .xml files, thinking that was all I had to do (see my attachment for reference, I use steam not bioware). When I started a new character creation, none of those cosmetics/hairstyles I've been working so hard to install with chargenmorph are there. I'm begging someone, anyone, what the heck am I missing?? How do successfully update this??
AaronOfMpls
I'm not sure myself; I've barely played DA:O. But maybe someone in the Dragon Age: Origins forums here will know.
