BattleshipsSpaceships57
I’m sure this has been discussed ad nausium because I have read damn near everything I can get my hands on in search of a solution. Hopefully people here can help me. I am attempting to get Fallout 4 up and running again with MO2. I just recently purchased the game about a week before the next-gen update. I only had one crash during that week and it was my own damn fault. Then, I didn’t catch the update notification in time to stop it from updating. I have since redownloaded all of the depots, which I have saved in a separate folder that I use to overwrite or reinstall over the new files. I did a complete uninstall of everything including steam itself AND MO2 and all the mods. The problem still persists and is beginning to aggravate me. I have literally spent the last month and a half just trying to get past the loading screen. Before you ask, yes I did install everything correctly and for the proper version of the game. As per the midnight ride and other guides on proper installation. So here is the problem. I have the CTD and the audio menu loading forever in the main menu. No main menu replacer either. I can’t seem to get past it. I just did another complete reinstall and downgrade this morning, I have also tried running it with the next-gen update and the new F4SE, and still it persists. I manually turned off weapon debris, and Godrays. Textures have been set to every setting at different points. I have run the game in comparability mode, I have the audio set to the minimum system setting, I have the frame rate capped at 60. I have the latest drivers for my off-brand corded Xbox remote, I have run the game with and without it. I have run it straight vanilla to no avail and damn near every other combination as well. And here I am. I can’t get the damn thing to start and have followed every guide step by step. What am I doing wrong? I don’t have my PC specs available right this moment but I do know it’s an HP Omen with an Nvidia RTX card…it’s like the 3060 or some odd number that I can’t remember at 3am that is the the 3000s. Whatever came stock in this PC. I’m hoping somebody here can tell me what’s going on with my game and how to fix it. Everything worked just fine before the update, and I have not been able to play since.
TurntLogic
Check your Fallout 4 Data folder and ensure there's no leftover Creation Club content from the update. You're looking for any files starting with cc.

I still get the infinite audio load thing even with absolutely nothing installed other than the game itself. I’ll do it again when I get back to my PC tomorrow night. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Edited June 15 by BattleshipsSpaceships57
TurntLogic
You've probably done this already but to make sure, check you're running F4SE V 0.6.23 and that you've installed the Backported Archive2 Support System. You can also check your Buffout 4 config and make sure ArchiveLimit is set to false. I hope it helps!

I shall try again later as I said. I’m not currently at my Pc at the moment. I’m actually on my way to the local short track for the Saturday night modified races. fraquar
Can you run the game with no mods, no MO2 and no F4SE? i.e. a stable platform?

Yes I have tried that with a completely clean install. Doesn’t fix the problem. And I mean I dumped everything including steam completely. I wouldn’t define any part of this game as stable at this point lol. I even have a completely isolated copy of the old depots I downloaded that is completely clean that I used as a copy paste when the initial downgrade didn’t work. Can’t run it that way either. fraquar
If you can't run the base game don't even bother with MO2, F4SE or mods until you can get the base game working. To build a pyramid you need a solid foundation - i.e. a stable starting point - the base game and nothing but the base game. Yes, even if that foundation is something you don't want - Next Gen. ----- Until you have that there is no point in mentioning MO2, F4SE, etc - because they aren't the cause of the problem. All that will do is confuse people trying to help you. ----- If I had to mess with this first and foremost I'd make sure Steam was not installed under Program Files. If it was I'd uninstall Steam and reboot the computer. Then I'd install Steam outside of Program Files (i.e. when I used Steam I installed it under C:\Installed Apps) Then install the game (it will be Next Gen) then run it one time to generate the .INI files. ----- Beyond that, if I couldn't get the base game to run then that might trigger me to do my bi-annual reinstall of Windows a little early.... So I just did another complete clean install with absolutely nothing other than the game itself installed and that won't even run. I reinstalled Windows itself, and now nothing still. Black load screen then CTD. I have no clue at this point.
subaverage
Here is an older thread in a Steam forum with some tips that might help. Especially regarding Steam Overlay, antivirus software and Microsoft OneDrive: https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/3194745173771765360/ Are you sure that you don't have a hardware defect or failure? Do other games run? Did you make stress tests with your cpu, gpu, ram and harddrive? Edited June 17 by subaverage
