Dabuddah453
Greetings! As mentioned in title, I can't get presets to load properly. I've tried saving a preset so then I create the directory or whatever but the presets just don't save to begin with. I have the latest RaceMenu and SKSE for AE (Specifically SE upgraded to AE). I saw that it may have been the Address Library for SKSE (Mod 32444) so I wanted to see if I could uninstall it to fix the problem but my game won't even load at that point. I have made sure the directories are correct, even manually downloading them and placing them in manually that way didn't seem to work, yes this was after the attempt to save a preset. Hanaisse
A little more info might help. The last time I created a preset in Racemenu it was simply pressing F5 in the Preset tab, give it a name, done, there's even a confirmation - the .jslot file is automatically saved in your game files Data\SKEE\Plugins\Chargen\Presets folder. Entering Racemenu again and pressing F9 in the Presets tab you should find the file name of that or any presets you have. So, what do you mean about creating your own directory? Why? And if you're downloading presets make sure they are Racemenu presets (not Bodyslide presets that many confuse with) and install them normally in your mod manager so the files are put in the correct directory. My presets don't even have the ones I tried to save in the directory. 5 hours ago, Hanaisse said: So, what do you mean about creating your own directory? Why? I have seen several guides that say sometimes the way to fix the issue was to make your own preset and it would force the game to recognize your directory. But this hasn't worked. To further answer your question this is one of the presets I'm trying to get https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29041?tab=files - race menu preset! AaronOfMpls
@Dabuddah453 Just to clarify, are the preset loading and saving menus coming up at all? (Even empty?) Spoiler Load: Save: (Ignore my many presets there. I've created many characters in more than a decade of playing Skyrim LE and SE.) 24 minutes ago, Dabuddah453 said: To further answer your question this is one of the presets I'm trying to get https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29041?tab=files - race menu preset! RaceMenu presets usually go in ...\SKSE\Plugins\CharGen\Presets\ in your game's Data folder (or your mod manager's equivalent), though you can edit the path in both the loading and saving window within RaceMenu to load and save from elsewhere. If you're using Vortex you'll need to deploy the mod,* make sure it's actually getting into your game's Data folder with the right path. If you're using Mod Organizer 2, make sure the mod is actually checked in your left pane. Which reminds me... Where is your game installed to? If it's in Program Files, you might need to give "Full Control" permissions to your Data folder for RaceMenu to actually save presets there. 6 hours ago, Dabuddah453 said: I saw that it may have been the Address Library for SKSE (Mod 32444) so I wanted to see if I could uninstall it to fix the problem but my game won't even load at that point. Yah, a lot of SKSE mods depend on Address Library so they can work with multiple versions of the game and SKSE,** and not be directly broken by future game/SKSE updates. Address Library is probably not directly at fault here, or we'd have gotten a flood of trouble reports on it from RaceMenu users, followed by a bug fix to either RaceMenu or Address Library. * I think; I've never used Vortex. Been using Mod Organizer in some form since 2013 or '14. ** for Steam or GOG, current version or downgraded/never-upgraded earlier versions. Reveal hidden contents Load: Save: (Ignore my many presets there. I've created many characters in more than a decade of playing Skyrim LE and SE.) It's ENTIRELY empty. The menu is coming up but there are no texts in the boxes. I've attempted to share an image edited from your based on what I see. 5 minutes ago, AaronOfMpls said: RaceMenu presets usually go in ...\SKSE\Plugins\CharGen\Presets\ in your game's Data folder (or your mod manager's equivalent), though you can edit the path in both the loading and saving window within RaceMenu to load and save from elsewhere. E:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins\CharGen\Presets - this is where it's stored, and Steam is installed in the same drive and yes I use Vortex and deployed the mod! AaronOfMpls
Hmm, I'd guess the problem is more likely RaceMenu itself (or one of its .ini's), or something overriding one of its .ini's settings. Is your RaceMenu install up-to-date for your version of the game? The current version on its files page is 0.4.19.16 for SE/AE 1.6.1170. (If you're running a downgraded SE or AE install, then sort the Old Files by date and find the most recent one for your version.)
