How do I know if my load order is optimal and not a mess?

Recommended Posts

I'm a very new idiot to the modding stuff, so I have 0 idea what I'm doing most of the time. Does this load order make sense?

Have you run loot?

Here is a link to a very good guide to what should go where & lots of other very useful info  https://forums.nexusmods.com/topic/3886575-fallout-4-beginners-guide/

believe me when I say it is worth reading into it all & learning to use these tools it will save you heaps of time & anguish in the end

Thanks!

@juicelearner You are most welcome 🙂

Oh there is another very good guide if you decide to go with MO2 for your mod manager (highly reccomend having one)

The step fallout guide is more focused on MO2 while the first one is more nexus mod manager / vortex?? focused though the advice holds true whichever mod manager you use so is still good.

Here is the link for the step guide bear in mind they have not updated to the NG though again it is still good reference also has some of the mods to stay away from (too old) & alternatives

I’m certainly no expert but I know that you should only have ONE of those .esps for Live Dismemberment active. You currently seem to have all seven active : you are supposed to choose only one. Or maybe you already disabled six of them and Vortex is still displaying them as all being active ?

OH. Right, I'll get right to disabling those.

Yes, the mod author made the installation process a bit unintuitive and left lots of people confused. If you look in the bugs section tab and find the bug report named “Problems with choosing the .esp”, the poster Auge1 gives a good solution. I used his solution 2). But I guess you can just disable the six plugins you don’t need ? Or even uninstall those plugins, if that’s possible ? Anyway, good luck. As I say, I used solution 2).

There is a process to getting a load order right and it's called:

The Method

Note:   This is old, some of the features of xEdit have changed (and it refers to Skryim) - but at it's core it hasn't changed.

You need to go step by step through the mods in your load order, look for conflicts, figure out if they can be addressed by a simple load order change or need a patch made.   Then go back and add another mod, rinse and repeat.

----

There is no short cut to having a stable modded game.

You need to read the Description pages of mods for specific information if required.

You need to start slow and build up to the level required to manage multiple hundreds of mods and get them all to sing in harmony.
