Yes, certainly I consider that an essential mod both in Fallout 4 and Skyrim AE. The story had a rough going for my ethics for a bit... I'm very fine with role playing an evil person in an RPG, but Vigilante tells me I'm role playing a good person and yet must murder innocent people who aren't hurting anyone. If I were role playing evil I'd be fine with that, but I almost quit the mod when there was no option not to kill the person. Also the mod keeps switching me to first person, something I really hate. But I'm gradually starting to cope with these things. On the RPG aspect, I decided I'm not role playing a good person in this mod. I'm playing a brutal anti-paladin, lawful evil, and that's helping. I took a break to cook breakfast (am cooking right now), but I'll continue the mod when I return and look forward to seeing where it goes. Thanks again! drsemmel
Vigilant gives you a lot of choices (without telling you most times). I asume you met the "witches" at the wichpond? I discovered the following in my first playthrough (I reloaded a few times, lol) - that was one of the few things I got right the first time around.  Spoiler You can save them. Here is how: After you visited the woman and her child, go back to Molag Bals Altar (Altano is still there). Altano will then scold you for not killing the witches. Stand up to him and say no, when he request you to go back and kill them (you have to refuse multiple times and he gets progressively angry with you). He will then get up and attack you. Bring your strongest weapon (a bow is best, bc it is important for you to not get hit during the encounter). What worked best for me, is having my bow already drawn, when starting the conversation with him. He will transform when sufficiently hit. Kill him fast, don´t get hit. If he hits you, he knocks you out and when you wake up, you learn, that you killed the women while beeing mind controlled by molag bal. ^^ The one-eyed man however, you can´t save, but one can argue, that you killed him in good faith, following Altanos orders (you still believe in beeing a good vigilant after all). Only when he requested me to kill the women, that where obviously innocent, I wouldn´d do it.

As for not getting hit, I play at level 3 difficulty with no armor whatsoever, so even the giant rats usually defeat me in one hit. Not getting hit is something I'm okay with *Laughs* Thanks again.  As for getting a chance to kill Anton (sp?), YES!!! I want to kill him so much! He's so evil! Thanks! p.s. I wish I'd have known I could just keep saying no to him when he wanted me to kill the bar keep. I said no, but the quest insisted I had to. So I didn't realize I could have just kept saying no. Thanks again.

If you play on Steam, the rarest Steam achievement for Skyrim SE is "Master Criminal" where you need a bounty of 1000+ in all nine holds. (Surprisingly, 2.5% of people have done this.) You can do it the vanilla way in which you just serve your time or pay off your bounties once you get the achievement and need a way to clear them. Or, you can do it the potentially lethal and certainly brutal way. It's still a neat achievement either way.
drsemmel
@Karna5Â Thats very nice of you, to mention it, but I stopped logging achievements for skyrim, when I moved my 1.5.97 version to a stock game folder. (And I believe before that I did not care and have not enabled it in engine fixes^^^)
Karna5
Now that I'm well into the Vigilant quest mod, I figured I'd mention how gorgeous it is. drsemmel was correct that after the opening introduction to the players, the mod opens up into a combination silent hill and detective story. And it's friggin' beautiful. In Fallout 4 there are basically two types of quest mods: a) character based mods with emotional ups, downs, humor and tears (like Nuka Ride, Commonwealth Slavers and Problems of Survivor), and b) horror/exploration based mods such as Whispering Hills and a few others. Vigilant strikes me so far as a Skyrim equivalent of Whispering Hills, but while both are strong in atmosphere and spookiness, I think Vigilant is winning on pure aesthetics. I very much admire the beauty of Vigilant. I feel lucky my character's build is based on stealth and fast sneak kills. I forgot to stock up on arrows (I went in with only 6 by accident and am down to 3), but it's working out with close up stealth and no armor anyway. It seems this would be a pretty tough adventure with open combat.
alphafr
Darkend end if you like bloodborn like mod (base enemies are like lvl 75 tho), however, no quest or markers its up to you to explore and uncover the fallen Island story and the fate of all its inhabitants There are some high value mod poised to be released in 2025 like Apotheosis, similar to Unslaad but voiced and todl to be DLC sized, seems to be sending you to the end of times at the dawn of the new Kalpa and throughout the realms of Oblivion  Not sure tho if its an extension to Skyrim like Vigilant, Glenmoril and Unslaad (those mods are to be played in that specific order btw or you miss the context) or its a "you start and finish the game within it" type of mod Edited August 14 by alphafr

In act 4 you won´t have that problem anymore (you can loot, craft and even buy).  59 minutes ago, alphafr said: Darkend end if you like bloodborn like mod (base enemies are like lvl 75 tho), however, no quest or markers its up to you to explore and uncover the fallen Island story and the fate of all its inhabitants  Darkend is very good and very different. Some ppl find it boring, because it gives you no instructions via questlog, but I can´t agree with that because that mod is so rich on environmental storytelling and written down information, that you get to form your own motivation to explore the island. Besides that, it looks stunning and the level design is amazing!
Karna5
2 hours ago, drsemmel said: Ya, beeing stuck in the mansion without arrows sucks I noticed that several of the monsters in the mansion have more than 8000 hit points. Until then I was thinking of maybe increasing the difficulty a notch, but without surprise attack it takes so many attacks to kill those monsters my finger got tired of pressing the mouse button *Laughs* With surprise and dual wield they die in 1 or 2 hits, but without surprise and using two handed weapon they take around 100+ hits, haha. After I killed all those monsters (and got nailed by the "Phobia of Undead" penalty from the Stress and Fear mod due to getting defeated by one of those monsters so many times), I got stuck trying to find a key and caved in and checked YouTube to get a hint where the key is. Â To my surprise, the YouTuber didn't fight those monsters. He ran away from them!!! Duh, I thought I had to kill them, haha. Â
