Jake15000
Hello all. I am relatively new to modding Skyrim so I don't have everything down pat so I need some guidance from more experienced modders about this particular issue. So I recently created custom Vampire Lord meshes and textures for the player and was able to get them to work in-game. The problem is that Harkon also uses the same meshes and textures as the custom Vampire Lord. Is there anyway to make it so that the Custom Vampire Lord only affects the Player Vampire Lord and Harkon keeps the vanilla Vampire Lord meshes and textures. I haven't seen a tutorial on how to do this or seen a forum post that addresses this issue so I'm kinda stumped on this. Any help would be appreciated. PeterMartyr
OMG it been so long since I've done a custom race to play with.. yes it can be done, I would start with learning how to make custom playable race, baby steps, start with the basics https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10165 welcome to coding, btw if you get this working and release this, you will need this as a master https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24168 so your mod plays nice with other Custom Races just let me add, the above guide is 100% accurate and working, the Greatest Modder on the Planet wrote it, any errors will be you, do not expect to get it right the first time, if you do ? Good On Ya use a proper text editor too, choose one, or try all three to see what you like NotePad++ Visual Studio Code Sublime Text packages for Notepad++ is on the CK wikki packages for Visual Studio Code is self built gets packages for Sublime is on the Nexus or Github https://github.com/Kapiainen/SublimePapyrus https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60810 the reason I use a custom race was it was pre FNIS Alternate Animation / Nemsis and I used the original PCEA https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/14871 if get you frustrated with the coding, just go for a walk to clear your head, delete everything and try again, you do not have the set skill to find errors, it will drive you even more crazy.. PeterMartyr
Just so we are clear, and on the safe side, you do not need the original PCEA, it is outdated and obsolete now.. Plus since you like Vampires? are you aware of this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/80159 there maybe some problems, that are already solved, no need to reinvent the wheel, also notice heaps of Race Compatibility Patches.. do not ignore that also if you are a MO user, you will need Work A Rounds, baby steps, do the Custom Race learning in the real world.. If there is a "Reader" that knows these MO creation kit coding work A rounds.. feel free to to tell @Jake15000 what they are.
